Default thinks of putting a new flywheel and clutch

I am think of puttinga new clutch and flywheel in this winter for next season. I want to put a Exedy lightweight flywheel in with one of their stage 1 clutches. My question will changing it have any adverse affects on my drivetrain and or the engine more importantly the DBW system. I don't think it will but wondering. It should give me better acceleration in place of top speed and maybe make 6th gear a little more bearable. Need some input??

if your going to adjust your gear ratios then yea it will give you acceleration and sacrifice top speed, depending on how u adjust.

How are you going to "adjust" a gear ratio? without completley replacing a gear set/final drive there's no way to change gear ratios. An aftermarket/upgraded clutch in a STOCK vehice(even with bolt-ons) is not going to improve acceleration. a lighter flywheel will free up some rotational mass, allowing the motor to gain RPM more quickly, but its not going to improve accel..

basically unless youre current clutch is slipping from a substiantial HP gain(s/c / turbo), theres NO reason to change out the OE equipment... you will see ZERO gains in 0-60 or any sort of acceleration times.

why do you find 6th gear unbearable?

and since when does changing a clutch and flywheel change gear ratios?

I think the "unbearable" opinion stems from not acknowledging 6th gear is an overdrive, gas economy gear, not a performance, quick RPM gain gear. I guess if you want to scream up to red-line in every gear, 6th can feel a little "unbearable".

Even with the supercharger, unless I am at 6,000 RPM, the speed increase in 6th is not the quickest. Course, personally, 6,000 RPM is 6th means I am already going fast enough to make me **** my pants.

Btw, did you check out the Comptech Light weight flywheel and clutch assembly? I have been very happy with everything I have installed from Comptech. As soon as my factory clutch fails, I will be replacing mine with the Comptech set-up. The 60 fp increase in torque from the sc is hell on the factory clutch (or I suppose any clutch).
