Default Anyone dealt with Japanese Domestic Motor?

I am looking at picking up a JDM H22a and I was going through a couple sites and came across Japanesedomesticmotor.com. They have the H22a for $1952 shipped to my door. With 5 speed transmission. I was just wondering if anyone has dealt with them before and what your experience was. Thanks.

I was going to get a longblock from passwordjdm, but they are out of stock and I don't have the money to spend $2500 on a motor. I know HMO is good, but what is their shipping rate to the east coast?

I was first quoted by the shop that was going to do my swap $1500 for a low mileage USDM motor, but since they couldn't find one they thought it would be alright to put a JDM H22a on hold for me and not tell me it was $1100 more.

Don't get one from them. I know this is just one instance, but when I got mine, they shipped me a B20 at first. I sent it back and got an H22 with automatic transmission. The motor was filthy. I would have cleaned it up no matter how nice it was, but to me, that says that they aren't as worried about the customer as they should be. Each time I called them, I was treated very poorly. If you have a business, then go for it. A local shop here gets motors from passwordjdm...they get pretty good service. The motors they get sent and I got sent are worlds apart.

What was anyone's shipping estimate to the east coast from HMO? I sent them an email last night but haven't gotten a response yet.

I just purchased a complete swap from hmotors and shipping was $250. I am in east Pa. If your paying with credit card they also have a 3% fee that you must pay on the entire purchase price. I paid 200-300 dollars more by going with hmotors, but that 2-300 is worth it to me to gain the piece of mind that I am getting my motor from hmotors.

Hmm, I am waiting to see what they say, but $250 sounds about right.

Default A Really Bad experience with Japandomesticimport St-léonard, qc

My english is really poor but i wil try to describe at my best what happens to me during the last months...
Avoid Japan Domestic Import at al costs.....

Hi, some months ago, i was makiing a little project. The project was to buy an accord coupe lx with an f23a with the tranny burned and to put an H23a with automatic tranny since i do not had enought money at this time. So i start serahcing on my own on the internet who was one of the best swap shop in montreal to do the job... I finished my project by visiting every single JDM shops in montreal to have an impression about the place and the jobs done.
My attention stop at Japan Domestic Import located in Saint-Léonard just a couple of streets next to OSAKA the bad guy.
The story begin in the store JDM INC. I talk with the boss about possibles jobs that can be done to make my Accord run's great. He told me that he can put another transmission for the same motor or put an h23a with an automatic transmission. I deal a bit with the boss and he told me that he can do a complete swap in about 24-48 hours for about 1500$ Cash plus a little 48$ for the liquids fillings ( OIL, Prestone....)

So at this point i was really excited about getting that new motor that look great and i give them my car and Keys.
I call them back 48 hours later and they told me that my car is not yet ready since one of him mecano are sick and they need some time to do the job well.
5 days later, i call them back and they told me my car was ready so i just return back to their shop.

When i arrived at the shop, he told me to try my car. I start the car and notice a check engine light at first when turning the key. The boss told me it is normal since the crank sensor have to be re-wired into the distributor and that will let a check engine light forever. I figure this was normal when you fit a motor not designed for this model. A couple of seconds later, i notice a noise coming from the power steering pump and strap. I open the engine bay and checked the power steering pump and the boss told me the power steering pump have to be adjusted. I was begining to be a litle suspiscious about the crappy swap they done...

So we figure a day where we can adjust the power steering pump. Later, i was on the office and i told them i want to pay cash. The boss say, ok i can make you the swap cash but i can't give you an invoice since i can get caught by the governement. At this point i was very suspiscious and i told hom if he didn't make me an invoice, i will not pay at all for the job done. After some minutes debating about that, he made an invoice that state h23 motor and tranny installed with 3 month granity with his signature on the bottom.

So i was ready to pay him 1500$ plus the oil fill in cash with an invoice and he told me it was more expensive since he has to cut the catalyst converter and make the corect wiring. The price he was asking was 1760$. I agreed to pay since the swap was done for a good price and i had an invoice stating the warranty.

The motor look very clean and they have put tork bars in the engine bay for free. I quit the shop with my car excited to try my new car. I just turn some street corner's and the check engine light start flashing telling me there is an importent problem with the motor. There was no oil smoke but a notice a little loose of power when i was about 2000 rpm.

I come back home and on my way my power steering strap broke and since the strap is next to my air conditionner and alternator the strap broke too. I find a parts shop and change the power a/c strap and let my power steering disconnected. Cost or repair about 100$ for 2 straps and an hour of pleasure.

The next day, my car was parked into my driveway and i notice two big leak coming from the cardan seal and the radiator hose attaching the transmission line to my rad. I put some oil to make sure no oil missing and get back to the garage in to talk about the problems i had. They adjust the power steering pump not perfectly but it was working with a strange bracket without tension adjustment. they also fix the leaks.. I talk to them about the check engine light flashing and they say don't worry about this...

So i return home and another power steering strap broke on the road... I return back later to the shop to make this problem fixed and they put an h22 power steering pump for 80$. I was **** off to pay again but i had no choice to get this ****ing problem fixed.

So i run the car for work and to get in vacations with my girlfriend. We went in Gaspésie for 2 weeks and on the road we notice a strange noise coming from the tranny. Fortunately we come back without problem except some transmission noise when it change gears.

To make sure the swap was well done i bring the car to a friend of me ADVANCE in LONGUEUIL. The guy told me it was bad done since this is not supposed to have a loss of power that look like gas strugling and the check engine is not supposed to threw 8 codes on his diagnostic machine.

The transmission was going worst days after days and it finished by kicking so worst i call CAA and i put my car on a towing at my job and make my car delivery without me at the door of the garage. Japandomesticimport call me back a couple of hours after and ask me why i put my car on a towing. I told him hgis tranny was **** and i want another one.
The garage agreed to change it without some days...
It took 2 weeks before they fix the problem telling me the same ****ing story that they don't have tranny for now for my car and they are awaiting shipments...
So finally after 2 weeks without wheels i got my car back with a supposed new tranny h23 automatic.
I noticed they also turn the check engine light off and try to adjust the dirtributor as well. The result was terrible, the tranny was slipping and the car was blewing completely at every red lights. The same day i return back and they told me there was no mecaniciens and to come tomorow.

So during this time i done my own research and call the Best wiring Guy in Town Martin....
I asked him to look wat was the problem...
Before i have talked with the garage about strugling issues with power and trerrible gas smell. They told me they don't know whats the problem... Finally i asked them what ecu they put and they told me they don't know because this is not them who make the wiring.
So i bring my car to Martin Garage to discover the ECU was the original accord f23 Vtec USDM ECU. Martin put the real H23 JDM ecu andf make the wiring for 150$. The car was running a lot better but when the ecu was swapped we noticed the tranny has a check engine on the 4rth GEAR. The first gear was also kicking like never and the spedometer drop from 20 to 0 in one second. we tought it was the speed sensor on the tranny and change him... Same problem...

So i return back again to the garage to told them i finally got the right ecu and i say Thanks for not telling me the trueth about the ECU with the extra monay i pay for wiring. Then i ask him whats the problem with their transmission. They accused me to race with the car and told me to get to the court against him since it was my fault again.....

My english is really poor but that story was to tell you how they are scamming people and when you know a lot about these stupids mistakes made volontarly that they want to hide you understand how it can cost for cutting the corners straight.

My warranty was good for some more days when i bring my car and this is my right to have the job done. I will probably sue them in little creances for getting my cash back . I have so much proofs they will be ****ed up.

So again.... NEVER.... NEVER do a swap in the Brother of OSAKA Garage.
pay a thousand more and get the job well done at ADVANCE in Longueuil or at your friend garage...
