Default Climate Console Lights Only Work 1/2 the Time

Hi, I have a 99 1.6EL, but the console is very similar to a 96-98 Civic. What's happening is that the light that illuminates the temperature and fan speed only comes on part of the time.

Sometimes it comes on automatically, like from the factory.

Sometimes I have to give it a good tap.

Sometimes even after a good tapping it still won't come one.

All of the fuses look good. All of the wires going into the unit appear to be in good shape and connected properly, and the lightbulb appears to be firmly mounted.

I have tried tapping the dimmer switch to no avail. I don't have a friend with a 96-00 Civic, so I haven't tried another switch, but if that's what you guys think is really the problem I could probably get one.

Thank you for any help,
Florida
The part circled in red is the part I'm talking about.

sounds like a bad connection. does the other light meaning gauge lights also do that if not it is not the switch but a loose conection

bad connections on the back of the climate console. Could be the bulbs are loose.

I have a light out too on my EG civic and its a pain to get the climate control out so I just ignore it.

I got the same problem in my 92 civic hb. I recently replace my climate control with a new used one, thinking it might fix the problem but it didnt. I checked all the fuses, and the connections but still doesnt want to turn on. The funny part its only half of the climate control works(Rt. Side). I even replaced the bulb but still doesnt work.

</TD></TR></TABLE>

All the other lights always work fine (knock on wood). Even the light at the top of the climate controls (for the air distribution, recirculation, etc) works fine.

I know to get that green plug loose, a lot of effort is needed, and it would have been easy to pull a wire loose. I visually checked that the wires were in place, but maybe that wasn't good enough.

Could it be a loose connection at the other end of the wire set with the green plug?

Thanks guys!! Any more help is appreciated.

that happens to my 92 si hb climate control. sometimes my whole dash (including my speedo and tach) go out. I just give it a hard love tap and it turns back on....annoying, but too lazy to tear the dash apart.

I will not get used to this. I don't care if it's a Honda and it's common
