Default KGM vs. Spoon

i know that this topic has probably come up before, but i am wondering what the consensus is out there on these two spring sets. i'm looking at the KGM DP Supersports and Spoon Progressives. i'd greatly appreciate opinions from anyone who has heard anything about these springs or actually has them on their dc-r. thanks guys.

I don't know much about the KGM, but I do know several Type R owners who are using the Spoon springs, and I have heard nothing but good things about them.

They're both probably good sets of springs. However, you won't find that many people here who actually use them. Maybe i'm wrong. I have a set of KGM springs collecting dust as we speak because I haven't had the chance to put em on. When i do, I guess i can give my testimony regarding the springs. What exactly are you looking for? What kind of comparisons..

From what I've seen personally, kg/mm has a nicer drop (not as low as Spoon) while they ride the same.

at this point i want the springs to work well in conjunction with the stock ITR shocks. i don't want a drastic drop in height, just a decent 20-30mm. i'm looking for a good balance of comfort on the street and performance in the twisties.

I replaced the stock springs with the Spoon ones and all I can say is it feels more composed through corners with a reduction in body roll. But it's "scrape country" and bumpier ride when you have them. Haven't tried the KGM. Cheers!

Can anyone recommend some shocks to compliment either the KGM or Spoon springs? I just bought a set of kg/mm's from A&J and wanted to purchase some shocks also so I can install everything at once. Any experiences and/or suggestions on what are some nice shocks out there on the market.

I have GAB shocks and I love them. They are 4-stage adjustable and have worked very well for daily driving and autoxing. I understand they are difficult to find now in the U.S., but worth it if you can locate some...

An inexpensive alternatives to JDM shocks are:

1. Koni Yellows
2. Bilstein Adj.
3. Gab

fyi...I came across this link below and it includes spring rates, amount of lowering, both front and rear for a variety of popular springs. Look for DC2R when looking for lowering amounts.

http://php.indiana.edu/~bchang/Pics/...ate_Table.html

The Spoons aren't posted but the spring rates on the Spoon Sports website say 6.6 kg/mm F, 5.5 kg/mm R and 20 mm lowering

Ya know, if anybody wants to help me complete the table, I need to get measurements for the spring heights (unused). It's just another useful way of comparatively gauging how much the spring will lower.
