Need Help... throwing 2 codes... researched
My buddy has a '91 standard hatch. When he bought it it had an LS swap in it. It ran really strong for an LS swapped hatch. One of my other friends previously owned the car. He drove it for a month, downshifted into 2nd while trying for 4th, and blew the motor up.
He purchased a good B18B block and another PR4 head. His brother put the motor together... we put a 94 intake manifold on it when we originally swapped the car(before he purchased it), the one coolant line had a tee in it to make it work right, his brother put the line half assed and it mixed the coolant and the oil. I switched it back when I finally looked at the car.
We drained the oil and changed the filter. The fuel pump wasn't working so I changed the relay. Now it works. It's getting fuel to the rail also. It's getting spark, but it won't start. Well, it starts for about 5sec. with lighter fluid. I've rocked the dizzy back and forth. I figured it just needed to be started up for a little since the block hasn't ran in a long time. After repeatedly trying to get it to start it still won't.
It's throwing a code 6, the B18A1 block had a coolant temp sensor in the block and the B18B1 block didn't have a spot for it, so it's not hooked up.
The only other code it's throwing is a 16, which I beleive is for the injectors. It still has the injector resistor box on it. The guy that previously owned it said he wired OBD-1 injectors when it was originally swapped. It still has the injectors from the original swap in it and they worked before. So I'm wondering why it's throwing a code 16 cause it's causing the car not to start or run. Any help will be greatly appreciated as the car hasn't ran in over 3 monthes

I just found out last week at a Tuning Seminar in Vegas that If you run a injector resistor box with OBD1 Injectors, It heats up the injector drivers in the ECU and can cause them to burn out. Actually burn!!
I find it very funny how you KNOW something is wrong there - you know you're not supposed to run a injector resistor box with OBD1 injectors - but you brush off that fact because you think the car was running before like that....
If you know of a problem FIX IT!!!!!!! because that probably IS your problem.
And after you do that, before you tell me it still doesn't run - open the ECU and look for burn marks.

Wow I guess check engine codes mean you KNOW what's wrong with a car. I don't expletive with EF's cause they're complicated and there's always something going wrong with a swapped one around my area. I own a n LS swapped EG.
For your info I didn't know it had OBD-1 injectors wired on when my buddy did his harness. He just told me that yesterday. I actually didn't know that it would burn **** up in the ECU if it still had the resistor box. The car is wired OBD-0 and the only thing OBD-1 is the injectors. I don't know why he wired them up. The car DID run for over a year like this!!!!!
Can I just unhook the resistor box and everything will be fine or what??? I have another OBD-0 PR4 to put in his car just in case the ECU is burnt.

You get the douche bag award for the day for that one!!! He didn't even help me at all and you're just going along with what he said. How about next time help out with suggestions or something rather than rant about how people KNOW what's wrong and don't fix it themself.

EF is obd0, and if swapping to obd1 is hard, possibly you should stop working on cars all together and leave it to someone that understands them.... so you dont expletive up anymore of our beloved ef's.

LOL, if you do this then there will be no power to your injectors

READ THE POST MORE THOROUGHLY!!! I just looked at the damn car! I noticed there was something wrong with it. I checked the engine code and it was for injectors. I asked jeff the previous owner if it had OBD-1 injectors and he said it did. I know that my car doesn't have a resistor box and I was wondering why Neady's did.
I WAS ASKING FOR HELP BECAUSE I HAVEN'T MESSED WITH ANY WIRING THAT'S OBD-0 AND I NEVER DICKED WITH RESISTOR BOXES. Will you please just help instead of bashing me for asking for help so I don't expletive anything up. I mean what is Honda-tech coming to... a bunch of know-it-all jackass' who talk **** instead of helping which is why this site was really made.
