Want to do HID retrofit
Ok, here it is. I want to do the HID retrofit, but the only source I know for buying a kit is from HIDplanet.com and even then I do not know which set to buy. Some projectors are different sizes, but I don't know what would be best. It's either the Bosch Xenon D2S kit or it's the Valeo Xenon HID kit. I hear everyone talk about S2k projectors and A4 and so forth, but I don't know where to get those other than the dealers. Are the two kits I listed good kits? Which is preffered? Is one easier to install than the other? I've looked around, but can't seem to find any how-to's yet. Can anyone fill me in on some more information so I don't go into this blindly.
i would contact customlightz, they did my s2k refrofit with color mod, custom shrouds, hit me up and i will send u some pics of there work... Bjorn is amazing and i promise u will have the best experience dealing with them, casue they are all about customer service and helping to get everythign done right....
http://www.customlightz.com and u can get all the contact info from there as well as pics...

look around for a set of bulbs, ballasts, projectors and and ignitors and just do it..forget the kits, they usually add more glare. I just recently did a retro with lights out of a bmw 3 series. Your best bet, try and find a set of TSX or s2k lights! check ebay or the sale section for people selling retros. good luck
Are you doing it for your Teggy? Well I did my retro with a tsx projector. Turned out gRRRReat!!! I would have gone with S2k but couldn't get my hands on it. Well on HIDplanet, there's people selling the TSX, so you should look into it. Here's some pics of my tsx setup.

note, all the blueness you see is what you see at the cutoff line.

how hard/long did that take to fit?
how much did your way cost compaired to the kits?</TD></TR></TABLE>
it took me two days. The hard part was to aim the projectors evenly. I paid 360 for everything. Very good investment i would say.

well, that's the hard part. you just have to make it look like it's even. I didn't use any leveling tool, but I'd suggest using that. If not, what I did was put everything back together and saw how it looked, and did the adjustments. Wether it was aim the position of the projectors, up, down, left or right by adding washers.
b20indcinlbc...mind posting a pic of the back of the headlight? Just wondering how/were the back of the projector sits in the stock rubber boot.

mine doesnt have the dowels pushing the projector forward and i'm afraid the projector sitting too far back from the bezel will affect the beam. but i was also trying to place the rear of the projector in a good spot to seal up as much as i could w/ the rubber boot.

Ok I guess I semi have an idea of what to get. What's the difference between D2R ans D2S bulbs though. Are there any projectors I should stay away from due to either size or quality? Would E46 bi-xenons be fittable in the housing?
D2R is used for cars that don't have projector lamps, such as the Is300.. because it has this metal plate or something that blocks off the glare, something like a cut off shield. D2S is used for cars with projectors because it doesn't have that metal thing.
well if you wanna make things fast and simple you can just get the ballist and the 9006 bulbs, thats what i did.

thats where i got my bulbs and harnest....the ballast was free from my brother. the best part is it's easy to install took me about 30 min the long part was hiding the ballast. heres how they truned out.

This doesn't look like the insides of a OE Integra headlight. If it's aftermarket what kind is it? Looks like it would be easier to do the retro on these since the OE projector isn't cast into the bracket. Cutting off the OE projector was the biggest PITA when doing the retro.
Getting ready to do mine here soon but it looks like mounting the ballasts is going to be the hardest thing to do. There's no room anywhere. Where is everyone mounting theirs? I have factory tsx ballasts which have the ignitor separate from the ballast so I have 2 boxes to mount per side.
From our experience, OEM headlights is the best choice for highest quality retrofits.
The headlights B20inDCinLBC used are aftermarket, and it seems as if he figuered out a way to do it right for those headlights.
This technique wouldn't work on the OEM headlights since the bracket is different.
Working with those aftermarket headlights I know the bracket isn't straight, and aligning it to be perfectly centered and symmetrical to the highbeam is a challange.
BTW head-on pictures doesn't say anything about the quality of the retrofit. Wall shots with the lowbeams on and with the highbeams on does.
Hope this helps

i thought about that already. the thing is that you just have to make the bulb sit correctly inside the holder. It should be ok, but if you think about it, you might as well get the real retro and get the ballast with d2s bulbs. it should be the same price
EDIT: IMO, i would rather just use the ballast that uses a d2s bulb over the after market kit. The aftermaket kit will be hella blue and it'll be way more noticeable to the cops.

You should be able to make an after market bulb work with the TSX projectors, but if you are getting it new then go OEM. You can buy Phillip or Osram D2S bulbs for $80 a pair.
Hope this helps.
