I found this in the '06 Civic section and I thought this was pretty interesting about synthetic vs. conventional oil.

Heh, QFT seemed like a bunch of civic owners arguing over motor oil and when to change it.

just a side note here....I've read many many many SAE papers over automotive lubricants. The bottom line is....NO synthetic or regular oil will EVER be better than the other as far as performance.
Now..at the same time I wonder what the big secret was with Shell Helix oil in F1 for the longest time. Its the only oil that they would use and is the same oil that comes in every Ferrari. Its like $75 a quart? I don't know...maybe its something for the rich guys to brag about their $1200 oil changes and F1s' unlimited budgets so who knows.

I guess so, but an easy way to end that thread is consult the owners manual, short and simple.

you shouldn't, those part need to be break in, at least 10k before any full syn. should be used.
on newer honda, you are not suppose to change the break in oil for the first 7500 miles.
