How much boost/WHP before I need Catchcan?
My car is getting tuned this Friday night and I'm trying to figure what are some safe numbers considering i'm not running any catch cans/venting hardware.
Setup: Fresh H22 Turbo Block (Sleeves, forged internals etc...), built valvetrain, Ti Retainers, Precision SC-61, S300 etc...
How much boost/WHP can I run before I should seriously consider running a catch can with two bungs running out of the valve cover and one for the crank case?
What are the risks? (Blown seals etc...)

My understanding of crankcase pressure relief/oil catch can benefits is that it corrects an issue that should have been taken care of from the factory. It does have greater benefit at higher power levels, but it is a good idea even on a stock motor.
Bottom line: If you have the $ to do it, do it.

OEM PCV setup is for an NA motor.
When you boost your motor, positive pressure makes the pcv valve close and it is not venting ANY pressure at all. This is really bad for piston rings, alll gaskets and seals.
When you boost your motor you should add the catch can. There really is no pre-set level when you need one.
Most people have problems using the back of the block with the catch can filling up so as you said, I suggest using the valve cover (I do and also use the back of the block to a second catch can.)

I am venting my H22 valve cover right now, Am i doing this right by having the vc vents go to the catch can, and then drain back to the back of the block? Sorry for the dumb question.
