Spittin', and a sputterin', ad being real laggy.
90 dx 4dr f22 about a month ago my dizzy dropped out on me, i replaced it when we started it by buddy set the timing ALL the way advanced as far as you can turn the dizzy for adjustment. which raised the ide from 875-900 to 1900-2000 i drove it for about two weeks and dealt with it until it started sounding like it has a cam (rapid idle swing from 900 to 2100. so i retarded the timing throughout its adjustment rang the only place i found that make the idle swing stop is fully retarded, which also makes the car a dog from take off it has NO torque in the retarded position. i removed the IACV and cleaned it. it seems to be closing al the way like it should. if i advance the timing to the max the car runs like a bat out of hell but the idle swing at the stoplights drives me insane. how can i fix both and where should the dizzy be set to? i have a CAI and header with free flow (no cat) 2.5" exhaust to a ractive pipe.
Hondatech in Harrison Ar. Tell Ron I sent you.
Check the cold start idle valve, remove the 2 phillips screws on the lid and then listen to see if there is air bypassing when the engine is warm. If there is turn the nylon 'split' screw in a couple turns.
if you turn it all the way down you'll lose cold start fast idle.
Be sure the car is full of coolant and the block burped thru the 12mm bleed screw at the T-stat housing.

i had no idea there was a honda-tech in harrison can you tell me where it is? i looked in the harrison phone book buy i did't see it. also what about the timing. I don't think the cold start valve would cause all of this since i have fast idle on cold starts but it does die down to about 900 then after a minute or so it will start the swinging idle.
