Default If I rebuild starter is there a chance of failure/ it not working still?

If I buy the toyota starter rebuild kit for 30.00 is there a chance of my starter still not working anymore?

It was starting up fine till a few days ago then I needed to push start it, the car the car still doesn't even have mileage in the 6 digit figures..(80,000). The starter was making a rapid click noise...
Now just a single click. Should I rebuild it or pay 90.00 for a rebuilt OE with lifetime warranty? Money is sort of an issue, and I want to have some $$ just incase something else screws me over..

You're much better off buying the rebuilt starter. The kit is a PITA and you're probably not going to get it all together quite perfect and will probably run into more problems down the line, and $60 isn't that much for peace of mind of a lifetime warrenty

the kit is easy. took me more time to take the starter out and put it back in, than installing the kit.

of course i got impatitent and fucked it all up, but take your time and you won't have any issues.

I don't think the rebuild kit will fix your issue. I can't remember for sure but I don't think mine would click during the times when it wouldn't start. It just wouldn't do anything at all. I would sit there and turn the key several times, wait, then try again and finally it would start.

My dad taught me this old trick for when a starter does that, try tapping the starter housing with a hammer. If it starts right up then the rebuild kit should fix your problem. If not, then it's something else and you probably just need to get you a rebuilt starter.

As for price, I've never seen one as cheap as $60. Usually the good quality rebuilt ones are in the $100-$130 range.

I think he's reffering to the fact that instead of the 30 , if I add 60 more I can get teh rebuilt one
