Default Axle Popped Out Under Load

Hiya, as the title says I had an axle pop out while I was on the track yesterday. It initially started as a vibration, got more violent, then next thing I know it felt like my clutch gave out. No matter how much I revved the car wouldn't accelerate and the rpms just kept flying upwards. I coasted all the way to the exit and after that the car starts but it won't move at all in gear. At idle there's this aweful marble sound, probably from the axle vibrating against the casing.

The front passenger side CV boot is half missing and almost completely fell off. Grease every where on that side of the car. When I push the car in neutral I can see the axle rotating but misaligned because it is no longer connected. The car was out of commission so I had it towed. I'm going to pull the axle out tonight to inspect it but I know it's pretty much toast.

I'm concerned about damage to the tranny and LSD. I was planning on checking for metal chunks in the fluids. So on that note, I know where to get axles has been discussed before here:

I wasn't aware of this but it seems like this happens a lot to high hp/abused Hondas so I am curious to find out what else I should be looking for while fixing this. Should I be concerned about my transmission and LSD? If people blow these all the time, what other type of collateral damage is expected?

Thank you,
Nathan

Thank you! I hope it's as you say. I'm still scared so I'll drain the tranny fluid to see if there are any metal shards . Anyone ever see any damage from it coming out?

What's the difference between it popping out and it breaking?

I had my axle pop out under load. It was a HORRIBLE feeling. I ended up taking the tranny out, I dont know if this was caused by or was the cause of but my countershaft bearing had 3 ***** left in the bearing (i think it has around 12ish new). Your car could be fine, or it could have something making it do it...check it out.

I recently had a problem where my passenger side axle was popping out. Turned out it was the C clamp on the inner side of the axle. I just had to expand it a little so that it held in. All is perfect now.

It would never come out enough to not grab though. Just enough to leak tranny fluid.

Walker, thanks for the advice. Just to clarify, the side that connects to the tranny was the one taht came out. I don't know why I'm stressing about this but I hope my transmission is okay, I had to coast for a mile while the fluid was pouring everywhere .
