Custom exhaust or buy one online
So ive been thinking about having my exhaust pipping custom done instead of buying something expensive. then i would just get a muffler and i would be done. does anyone know if it will make a difference HP wise? btw i have a d16y7+ AEM cai. also what size pipping? 2 1/4?
Custom done is cheaper?.. On a d series motor bolt ons dont do much from what i hear. My car got quicker with my catback on, yes.
I have a d15b7 in 93 civic hatch. But its not terribly quicker.. like a few hp. mine is 2.5" or is supposed to be. 2.25" more then enough though.

I think that he meant with a custom or a purchased system.
I just did a 2/ 1/4" cat back for my GSR in a 95 coupe, and had the same thing done to a customer's car, but he was using a skunk2 stainless steel unit. He was pretty pissed when I showed him that I paid $150 for mine, while he had to pony up $500 with install for that unit. Expecially since we couldn't tell the difference between the 2.

I wish I could have received the info I'm posting when I first got into the honda scene......................
If I can give you my $.02 please save up your money and decide what you want this car to be down the road.
You can spend all this money on I/H/E and stuff and really it will not make your car that faster, maybe after all the thousands you spend, you might cut a second or two off your times.
You'll never get any serious power gains from bolt ons. The ONLY way you will see real power from a honda is FI. Nitrous, turbo or supercharger.
Otherwise, buy a V8 and put bolts ons, on it.
Take it from me, I started where you are, buying stuff cause its cheap and it'll net me some horsepower. You never the power gains the company tells you, that's a selling gimmick.
I finally decided to bite the bullet and turbo'ed my car. Best thing I ever did. It may be some more maintenance but for the power gain it was worth it. I laugh at all the ricers that come up to me with their coffee can exausts and rev on me thinking their car is fast. Their revving on an 11 sec quarter mile car and they don't even know it.

i agree with you but i dont have money for a turbo. or i would do it. the reason i want an exhaust is that i just want it to sound good. thats why im not buying some fart can. also im not really looking to make my d16y7 faster. when i have more money im going to swap in a gsr.
if you want something cheap just go to a muffler shop and tell them to make you custom piping and just buy a muffler or an axle back or something... but if your a baller then i guess you could buy a whole exhaust system
