Default unusual gas mileage?

does anyone here get wierd gas mileage sometimes?

the other day i put .8 gallons of gas in my car when ive been driving around in my car for two days with the gas light on and the a little hard to start. i know bad for my car. but after i filled up that .8 gallons of gas, i went 60 miles until i really needed gas. i usually get 450 to a tank.

On most cars, the fuel light will come on when you have less than 1.8 gallons remaining in the tank. If you're smart like me, you never let the car get below 1/4 tank. If you let the tank run empty, you run the risk of introducing moisture into the fuel system, which can cause the inside of the fuel tank to rust and cause damage to the fuel system.

I dunno about moisture in the fuel system since it is pressurized. You will risk burning out the pump more than anything since the gasoline helps cool the pump so its not a wise idea to drive with the gas light always on. I always fill up when its right above the E line since my gas light turns on past the E line lol.

The gauge can be wildly inacurate. The only way to track MPG is obviously by measuring actual miles driven against gallons consumed.

That said, my RSX seems to be vary higher/lower on alternate fill ups.
