Us Aussie ITR Owners arent that stupid after all!!
Well I constantly see arguements ragin here about what exhaust if any should be put on the ITR and how big what style what desgin whose grandma has one and how you aint dope if you do/dont/otherwise
well people go to the link below and have a read of some Aussie test and tune simple and cheap mod for some noticable gain and let me know what you think. I will be performing this mod to my R soon and combined with a decent free flowing cat back I think you would see even more gains:

There away something worth reading at AutoSpeed.
I always do search there.....Like when I brought the PowerFC. I'll probably get the commander thur 'em as well.
Thankx.

I´m surprised he left the stock muffler alone.. that thing is huge. I ran a buddies ITR a few times last summer, he had a custom open muffler. We ran 5-8 times and he always had me by 1-2 carlenghts, in the end, we were both able to hear we changed gears at the exact time... to bad dyno tests are ridicilous here in iceland
Removing the stock muffler is good for 3-4 whp gains... but the stock unit flows fairly well.

With a modified 'engine' the gains from removing the muffler are even greater.
A 2.5" full system is a good modification... but is a bit cost prohibitive for me.
So.... I will use the stock mid pipe and just install a free flow muffler to install at track events.
I already have the Honda 4 into 1 header and a 2.5" cat.... I just need to remove the 'necked down' section at the front of the mid pipe.
I did find it interesting that the writer thought the smaller section of the header was to help with emissions. Since I have installed my 2.5" cat and Honda 4 into 1 header my emission #'s have gone up...
I guess the system flows too well...
which = low cat temps. = poor 'filtering' properties.

If you have a stock Euro header, I don't recommend just modding it like in that article. It looks like the AUS ITR header is different because the heatshield is different. The primaries of the stock Euro header are only 40 mm OD.
You can start with an JDM header + 60/63 mm testpipe (resonator type) + stock B-pipe and muffler. Just remove the first bottleneck by replacing the B-pipe flange with a 60/63 mm version....
You can always go to a full 2.5" setup later if you want that 3-4 hp extra (+ more noise).

Im using under axle 2.5" piping on mine no resonator and Carsound HF CAT coupled with Mugen 4-1 header and Apexi N1 Turbo universal muffler......VERY VERY loud and very free flowing.....as my car rarely see the street mainly is used for track now!
who said aussie itr owners were stupid?
-Dave,
-Dave,
But getting Spoon/Mugen/JDM parts so you can be cooler than the guy who buys APC isn't...

Does it hit at all?

we are all ITR owners in this forum and we should all respect each others decisions on how they want to modify there cars!...I have a lot of respect for owners on this board!......you and many others in this forum have been more than helpful to me and many others and this is what this forum is all about!...meeting new friends, enthusiasts and gaining specific knowledge on our cars!
Cheers!

DC2 - so how does your R go compared to stock. I am keen to do somemods to mine which is stock at the moment (but still hit a 14.8@90mph) but I want the mods to be streetable as wel. I am thinking of doing the exhaust mod in the autospeed article and combine it with a decent exle back.
Where in Australia can I find a hi-flow car sound cat?? I live in North Queensland so its the A$$ end of Australia in so far as performance shops go

You heard the man, Dave. You have no ITR so get out of our forum and leave us alone!
