No offense to anyone, but if you want a REAL fast car, go get something better. I mean, I love my 5th genPrelude as much as the next guy, but the Prelude isn't as fast as you'd think. I mean, it's a very fun car, just not a really fast one unless you dump a lot cash into it.

If you really want a decently fast car, get something like an Evo or an STI. A Ferrari or a Porsche is an even better choice if you wanna go fast.

A Prelude is not a fast car. Get a FR V8 to go fast

read the FAQ's. has a buttload of information just sitting there. next time use the search feature + what everyone else is saying. it ain't the fastest but i still love my lude.

I know you're aren't going to listen, but please don't go for a fast car as your first car. Get something that is dependable but also manageable until you get some actual driving experience.

-God, I can't believe I just said that......I'm getting old.

lol preludes are fast cars...compared to civics and delsols lol. However if you do want a race car outta the box you prob not looking at a honda period. However If I had a choice between a prelude with 350 hp or a Wrx with 350 hp... I would go with the prelude, just because no one would expect it. I own a 5th gen prelude because its decent bang for the buck and all preludes are way sexy. If you have the money for a STI or EVO 8, and wanna race. Go cop that instead.

Damnit, some of you people are stupid.

The title says first car.

Common sense would tell you that someone getting a first car wouldn't need a ******* ferrari.

Anyway, Preludes are great first cars. They have decent power, which means you shouldn't get beat by the average rice that thinks their exhaust makes it a race car. Then again, dont expect to beat vettes with an intake and a header.

They are great first cars.

I am probably going to get crucified in here for saying this but a pretty snappy affordable car with immediate potential is a GTI VR6, although the prelude would be a bit faster then gti stock for stock, put a basic intercooled turbo kit on the vr6 and you’re looking at close to 280whp and the engine will take the beating right from the factory. I had a gti vr6 as my first “fast” car and I am currently looking for another. If you have your heart set on a Honda, I do very much enjoy my prelude but the h23 didn’t react to boost the way the vr6 did.

Yes, but OP is 15. While I don't want to be judgemental and say that he can't drive b/c he's young, there is no getting around the fact that he has basically zero legal roadway experience.

This is in response to the choices that some people are giving this kid. Which I happen to agree with.

To sum it all up, if you want to get a different car, read what everyone else said. If you want to know how to make your prelude faster, read the FAQ. It's your decision, noone elses. If you have questions about certian setups for preludes that you can't find the answer to by using the search feature, then make a new thread and ask what you need to ask.

Looks like my point got proven.

Lets do some common sense math mmkay???

Here we go. You're 15, you have MAYBE driven your moms minivan a hand full of times. Othere than that, you've never driven a car on the streets for any length of time other than getting groceries.

WTF do you think fast is going to mean to him? I dont know about you, but that would suck to be driving on the same roads as a 16 year old in his first car with over 250 hp.

No ****, a prelude isnt fast from the factory but if you use a little common sense, you would realize that it makes more sense to give the 16 yr old a logical response. Not to recommend geting an evo or a ferrari.

That little common sense part of your brain working yet?

depends what car u owned before.. if u owned a car with like 100hp then a 200hp prelude would be fast to u, but its not rly fast when it comes to cars like 350z, neon srt4 etc

since u owned nothing before.. then i guess it will be fast ... lol i thought my dads 130hp 94 auto accord was fast when i drove it..

right now i drive a 92 lude h23 .. its fast .. when compared to the accord lol

lol I thought my moms honda odyssey was fast lol. Either way your 15 years old... I hope to god you arnt racing with your driving experience. Trust me even though you think your an excelent driver with your permit and all...you will be suprized to see how much you will continue to learn about driving. Please be safe first of all. And for your first car a 5th gen prelude would be a dream to me. Your very lucky, take good care of it.

if you think that the op driving a powerful car on public roads is a bit dangerous then go rip on him, ppl were giving their opinion on what a fast car was, and the general concensus is that preludes aren't really all that fast, nobody told him to get a ****** ferrari, we said that if he's looking for a good fast car he should start elswhere, sti being one albeit unachievable at his age there are other simialrly priced cars that are faster in a straight line if thats his target

Try again.

No one is ripping him. I wouln't have been able to drive an Evo safely at 16. No one here (unless they have been driving fast cars since 12) can say that and be truthful. I'm sure there are some exceptions, but not many.

I would suggest checking out some of the threads in the url below, tons of useful questions. Racing karts and bikes all your life? Then you really should be well aware of how to make any car/kart faster...

read, learn, then ask.
