Default The Bass The Demon

So I've decided to put a sound system into my civc. But here's a dumb question for you guys. I getting very close to saying yes to the sales guy at the audio store to put in a false floor and super decked out sound system into my trunk that will blow the neighbourhood. My only fear is that someone can break into it and steal the subs and everything. What do you guys think are the chances. I know if I just have my subs in a box the chances are much higher that it's going to be easy prey for the bad guys.

maybe the FIRST thing you should do is get a security system.... then a sound system.

I'd prefer to just haul around 100lbs of concrete instead of speakers, but hey that's just me.

What "cut off switch?"

1) Get a nice alarm. EI: Viper 791VX, Clifford 3.5RSX, Python 881XP (same alarm diff. remotes)
2) What is this system consisting of? Like what sub(s) amp(s), HU, etc.
3) Are they going to do any fiberglassing? I see you said they will make a false floor. That will help since it is built into the trunk and harder for anyone to steal.
4) Get extra sirens with your alarm.
5)Be smart about where you park. Do NOT park WAY out. Looks really obvious. Don't crank the system while pulling into mall/grocery/neighborhood. Since bass is omnidirectional, they will know you are coming way before they see you aka makes it easier to know what to break into.

thanks man. but do you really think an alarm will do anything. I mean all it does is make a siren go off. I use to install house alarms so i'm quite aware of what they do.

Ok say someone breaks into your car. No alarm. Any one around that sees someone in your car (if they are good they won't look suspicious) won't think twice about it. Ok same situation but you have an alarm. Anyone around will notice that the alarm hasn't been killed very quickly, will be alert and can easily help your chances of the thief leaving.

If you do get an alarm, I recommend getting an extra siren with it's own battery PLUS the backup battery for the system itself. So they cut the battery, it still blares. I know alot of people who have literally 5+ sirens on top of the single siren that came with the alarm.

On the extra siren(s)...have them put in locations that no one will think of. Like facing down so if they try to cut battery from underneath it hits them, inside also is a huge annoyance to any thief...Get creative. Wrap the brain wires with loom so that stalls them even longer. Do anything you can to slow them down. You can't stop most since they are determined, but you can slow them down a lot so they can't get everything.

Lastly, I wouldn't give out your REAL address to the shop that does the install. Many shops can use that info against you to locate you and get into your car.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now back to the system install. How are they going to mount everything? Are they going to build a fiberglass enclosure? Amp rack? Etc. I know they are building a false floor but just curious about the rest.
