I've had my XTD stage 1 in for a little over a year, and I finally got it pulled out. It wasn't gripping very well and had massive chatter. The pressure plate and flywheel were completely mirror glazed. Flywheel was machined and reused with Exedy setup. The XTD disc looked ok at first, but the metal fins that go between the layers of the disc were warping and coming apart. Also, I was talking to my friend who has the XTD stage 2, and I was telling him about all my problems, and he said he was starting to notice the same things happening (he thought it was just because his car was getting old). So, I guess the stage 1 and stage 2 are both junk. Can't say anything about the stage 3 because I don't know anyone with one

 

i just put the stage 4 un sprung hub into my car
hope it doesn't break apart on me

 

me and a buddy have the stage 3... happy so far, its been six months... but yeah it chatters... not excessivley though...

 

those clutches are garbage, 1/2 the ones i have seen had messed up disks from the get go.

 

Yup. Although I'm still breaking it in and haven't beaten on it, I know I'm going to like the Exedy. It just feels nice

 

i'll find out for sure once the turbo goes on and these things start to get real punishment...

 

I also got the stage 3 with the flywheel , but I have done only about 500 miles, so it`s too early to say ..... but I should say, I am not impressed so far ..... Will see...

 

I used the Stage 3 w/out any issues. It was just track use though.

 

im runnin on the 6 puck stage 3 right now....it grabs koo. havent gotten on it yet still breakin it in. but it clanks and makes knocking noises sometimes. is it just me or do any of u guys hear the same with these clutches?

 

this thread is interesting. i heard a few bad things about XTD when I was shopping for my clutch and what not. so I went with Exedy now I'm really glad I did.

So far about 2000 miles on it and no problems.

 

in my opinion, XTD isnt that bad for a $150 clutch kit lol there may be some negatives to it but that, we're gonna have to find out hahha

 

i havent heard any thing bad about the stage 3 or 4 yet.
has anybody broken a stage 4 xtd????
i will be beating the shi% out of my stage 4. if anything happens then i will let everybody know.

like a pulsating grab.....

unsprung clutch disks or 4 pucks commonly do this.

 

i got a sprung disc stage 3 its alright just clanks sometimes....other than that, grabs like a moffuckin champ!! haha

people think xtd is good because when people first get it they think its good but give it about 6 months and **** starts falling apart. i had the xtd stage 1 in my car and i dont even abuse my car except probably 2 track 1/4 drag days and it was hella chattering and when i took it out the dampener springs on the pressure plates were loose and the disc was worn pretty fast. PERSONALLY i think XTD is junk...yea they're alright for about 6 months...or less

the stage one i had in my car was chattering out the box like 500 miles after break in....rubish

 

Yeah my xtd stage 1 is chattering to funk, only done a couple K on it and I give it the same again before it's completely forked, wish I'd gone Exedy.

I had to replace my garbage XTD like 3 months ago,I went with an oem exedy disc and its 100x better.

 

my stage 3 6 puck finally gave out on me. these clutches are so shitty i swear. the chattering is bad too. i've barely had this clutch on for 1k miles and it all of a sudden started to ride choppy and boggy now.

 

I had the stage 1 also,mine took a crap about 3 months ago,I mean lil pieces all over the driveway....haahaa,but I mashed on it....and it was cheap.Good for about a year.but not worth the hassle of pulling your tranny 1 time a year.I got an exedy oem replacement disc and it grags 10x better.

 

i had my xtd stg 3 spurng 6 puck, with xtd 12lb flywheel for 10,000+ miles, Zero problems and i beat the **** out of it, fully build NA motor. Ill be takin it off this winter though, puttin on a new tranny.

 

did u have any chattering problems? im like at 800ish miles on mine and it stilll chatters

 

can i just buy a exedy disc i already bought the xtd but havent put on or should i put it back on ebay and buy a whole exedy clutch. i just bought a stage one
