i know this was probably brought up before, but i heard some people talk about the 6th gen prelude coming out in near future (2004), my friend has also read it on some japanese web site. he said it will come with either a 6 cylinder or something bigger than 2.2liter four. anyone here heard about this?? i don't know how accurate all this is, but i hope they bring the ludes back......

for a while I was thinking what they could do to bring the Lude back, and what I was thinking is almost exactly what I hear Honda is going to do:

build the new Lude as a RWD, 2+2 car on the S2000 platform. engine will most likely be a crazy 4-cylinder along the lines of the S2Ks or ITRs.

 

You know why that car will have a V6 and a bigger four? Because it will be called the 7th gen Accord coupe. The Prelude is going out of the production because the Accord coupe takes it sales, and Prelude performance can be had on the Accord coupe plateform. It also doesnt making much marketing sense to have three vehicles, such as the Prelude, Accord coupe, and RSX so close together. The 5th gen Accord coupe and Integra stole sales from the Prelude. I dont want to see the Prelude go any more than you, but it just makes marketing sense to discontinue it.

I just hope the Prelude does'nt become a diluted luxary coupe since it's suppose to be the sporting car of the Honda lineup (now the S2000). I've heard the rumors about the RWD 2+2 coupe as well, but I've also heard that the Lude will be built alongside the accord coupe platform (I hope not).
