to run that high compression on the stret usually you have to pull a lot of timing out to be safe on 91 or even 93 octane which means the engine is not making near the power it should.

agreed. I went from 10.5:1 ish to about 12:1 and by the time I pulled enough timing out to get it to make power it wasn't any faster in the 1/8th than it was before. Plus on a stock head and stock cams why would you want that high of a cr?

thats what im saying. why have such high compression and no headwork or cams to make hella good power from it all. its like having a girl friend that wants a boob job but doesnt wanna put out til she's married..

haha thats effing great, lol. my guess would be that he is planning on doing head work in the future, but doesnt have the money right now. so one stage at a time. what u need to do is have a good engine mgmt, like the s300. that way you can run one map for street/93 octane and another map for race gas that makes lots more power, same idea im doing for low/high boost...

just wondering how you would run that high of a compression WITHOUT doing anything to the block or head?

well...if he has the money to increase compression, he should have the money to upgrade the internals as well...or else it just doesn't make sense to take apart the engine twice...

the way i took it is he is changing the internals on the bottom right now, really the only way to get 13:1... its not that hard to pull a head and have it built, or have a built one to swap on to it in the future...its def a lot easier and takes a lot less time to swap a head then the whole engine...kind of the same princepal of people that build there engine for turbo, but dont have the money to build it and buy a good turbo setup at the same time...or another possibilty cause we really dont know whats going on is he may have a damaged bottom end that requires rebuilding now, so the "while im in there sindrome" starts, and we all know how that goes!!! lol
