Illegal to cover up VIN number on the front window?
From what I have heard, yes it is illegal.. However many people do this.. Some people I know just put a piece of paper up there, and make it like they threw it up there, so it doesn't look intentionally placed.

i heard that if you get a parking ticket and your vin number is covered your car will be towed! not to mean to scare you, but i just hope you keep that in mind. maybe another option would be to have you car rekeyed at a trusted locksmith, so it no longer corresponds with what's written in your car's file at acura.
i've wondered if I had no plates on either, how would they give me a parking ticket??? I think that would be pushing my luck on the towing issue.
Why bother covering that VIN number up? The VIN appears etched in all the windows as well as the front glass. I suppose everyone has the VIN #s on the glass removed or covered up as well. If a thief wants to steal your car and sees the front VIN covered, all he has to do is look on any other glass on the car.
My VIN number is not on any of my glass.
Also another note, make sure to cover up the vin numbers in the door well and back of the hatch. If they are not covered, you can read them with a flash light
Craig - Who covered about 15 vin numbers the day he bought his car.

Totally illegal.
to which ever DMV beaurocrat decided to do this...
i got a ticket from LAPD because my meter ran out while I was at the restaurant (and he was in the restaurant I was in). When I came out of the bath room after washing my hands before I started to drive the car, it was a matrix moment where everything between me and the LAPD officer slowed down. Then went back up to normal speed.

I had a sun shade up at that point. Is that illegal
what does VC stand for (vehicle cover)?
-aoib0t, who doesn't know what VC stands for in this situation.

doesnt matter in NY/NJ. When I got registered here, i noticed that the registration tags have the vin number printed on the tag itself...
