Default my accord is getting hott. first thing I should check is??

Well last night on my 2000 accord 4cyl I noticed the temp gauge was sitting 3/4 ways on the gauge. It has never ever sat that high. So I just added some water this morning was I'm going to drive it later and see if the problem is still occuring. But what I wanna know is there a common problem with this? If so what is thermostat, water pump, ect.
Any help whould be nice.
Thanks
Btw the car has 116K

The only time I noticed it was when I was at a stop. Under driving conditions it was just slighly above normal. As of right now I put coolant this morning, and so far it seems good but I haven't drove a great distance yet.

Well if i didnt noticed you lived in texas i would say you shouldnt even be adding water at this time of the year because of temperature, but .. like i said i just noticed

Anyway, It could be a Faulty Coolant Temperature sensor

Clogged Hose, Bad Tstat not opening enough,

If I remember right, normal coolant temperature for an Accord is 180 degrees farenheit. Under normal driving conditions, the temperature needle should sit at or slightly below the middle of the guage. First thing I would do is flush and refill the radiator, get a 160-degree thermostat, check and/or replace the radiator hoses, and be sure to check the fuses for the fans. Also, rev the engine and hold it at high rpms for about 10 to 15 seconds to see if the fans kick on. You will be able to hear the fans kick on, but if you have someone else helping you, that would be better.
