Default After much thought, im joining the save an R foundation

Well after not being able to stop thinking about that type r that was for sale for 6500 bucks a little ago, i decided at the end of next month (most likely sooner) im buying it. Its going to sit at my house until i fix everything and get the car exactly how i want. I will post pics of my progress the whole way don't worry.

That is a given, or else you'd be banned

JK, Good job taking on this project! I was eyeballing that R too. With a little TLC, she'll be back up and looking great in no time!

Here's hoping you take delivery sooner than later

LMK if you run into any snags, I've had mine completely apart. Glad to hear another is coming back to life.

As everyone said, it will defintiely be a project, but it shall be fun. Things im gonan do is jdm front end, new rear bumper, new CW paint, and most likely a new motor and lsd tranny with mugen intake.

Looks like a good platform to start with since you already have everything there. Just replace parts that are worn/broken.

What's the damage report? Looks like that entire rear passenger quarter section was replaced and the front has some issues, but other than that, it looks like it's in fairly good cosmetic condition.

Does it still have the stock C5 in it?

As others have said, it looks like you have a great starting point to work from. Goodluck, I'm glad another one is back into good hands.

This bothers me as their were no MR ITRs sold in the US... Why does it look like it was repainted CW and used to be MR? unless this is a fake-R

You can see in this picture that the rear quarter panel has been spray painted and doesn't match the rest of the body panels... Something feels sketchy to me.

I imagine that the quarter panel was replaced with a MR panel because of a wreck.

I thought quarter panels were extremely difficult to replace?

For 6500, its a steal and a half imo. Personally, i would buy it and then find a clean shell (stolen recovery) and swap everything over.

It still has the original c5 with tranny in it that has 15x,xxx on it. Dude said it was just rebuilt and has reciepts to prove it i guess. And idk why its red or if the quarter panel was replaced i still have to call the guy one more time and this is what will get brought up. Also its a different white because it had body work done to it, he sent me the vin and it matches an actuall R on carfax, someone who has free carfax please im me so i can give you the vin so i can see all the details. He says its a clean title.

just make sure the vins on the rest of the car match (hatch, hood, fenders, DS door jamb, firewall, etc) and you can see what else has been replaced if anything.

It actually just looks like they put a red corner panel on and then sprayed it with some rattle can. From what I can see the work doesnt look all that bad.. The paint is horrible though..

That is not worth 6500 of your hard earned dollars.

Good luck though if you do take it on. Just consider the cost of a very clean 97-98 versus that.
