CEL going on and off

CEL going on and off
What would cause a CEL to go and off?
1-When i start my car the cel comes and i drive for a few blocks, and restart the car and the cel is gone or
2- I start the car and drive a few blocks and the cel comes on,so restart the car and the cel is gone
BTW- whats teh best way to check my cel codes in a ek witha ob1 jumper harness

The same way you would check it if you didn't have a jumper harness.
