2006 Civic Manual issues.......
Hello all...
My wife has recently purchased a 06 Civic LX and she has noticed that shifting from 1st to 2nd gear is a problem since day one. I have confirmed that even getting the car into the first gear takes a little playing with - a slight acceleration and into first she goes! One time as the clutch pedal was pressed all the way down, my brother-in-law moved gears from neutral to first and to my surprise it was a sound that happens when going from reverse to firstr gear!
Shifting from 1st to 2nd is almost a grinding sensation.
I have taken the vehicle into Honda and they informed that this is normal on these cars.
I drive a 96 Accord 5 speed, and yes first gear is a bitch but not a serious issue as I am on 293,000 with the original clutch and tranny!
I've searched high and low on the web and found nothing of importantance that can be causing this problem. I have read somewhere, however, that 06 Si owners do complain of notchyness shifting into 3rd or 6th gear. The fix: a semi-synthetic oil was used in the manual tranny!
Any informaton would be greatly appreciated.
As usual thanks,

Personally, I would find another dealer to take it too, or call Honda US service support and tell them the dealer is not addressing a warranty issue on new car.
I have a 2006 Civic SI, my third civic. I have noticed on all of them, going to neutral to 1st when the tranny is cold is a not smooth. No grind, just does not want to go in unless you really push. However, I have never had a problem from 1st to 2nd with any of my Honda's.

Yeah your dealer is stupid, aparently most honda dealers appear to be that way with these cars, if not all? Take it to a different dealer, my original dealer screwed me on service, so i found one i like and now im happy.
