Car pulls forward when stopped?

Car pulls forward when stopped?
This is actually for my g/f's 2000 Ford Focus. It's an automatic and when i stop at a light it wants to pull forward even when i have the brake down. Idk what the problem is and today at the light it puttered then died... Any suggestions?
