whats up fellas? im new to the d-series motors and i have a few questions. I was wondering if all the d-series heads are interchangeable like the b-series are? thats my biggest question cuz i have a d15b2 which is a sohc and i would like to go dohc. If not then VTEC. Next, am i better off just goin with a b-series swap or is d a decent way to go. I already have a 93 Integra with a b18c5 turbo'd with a 100 shot of nitrous pushin 402 whp. So im wondering if i should go the same way with my civic. I would prefer not to spend as much with my civic as i did with my integra tho. I'm only lookin to make no more then 250 whp and is it possible on a d-series motor. Ive searched this kind of stuff on this forum but came up empty. Sorry for anyone who tells me to search more.

 

all of the SOHC D-series heads are interchangeable - the DOHC ZC or D16A1 heads will not fit the SOHC

 

well will any of the other d series heads really make a difference? like even a 5whp gain or anything?

 

any vtec head will give you a decent gain of around anywhere from 10-25 horsepower depending on what combination you go with...Also, while your at it, get a y8 headgasket from honda and take out the middle layer if your just lookin for cheap power adders....but if your looking to build a decent motor, there are hundreds of brands of internals out there for d-series motors....250whp is def attainable from a d-series but you may be looking at needing to go FI or spray...250whp all motor is gonna get pricey
