popping noises, after lowering, dealer said I screwed my struts up????
I lowered my 06 si about 2 weeks ago, and have been hearing a popping noise from the front end..when one of my tech's looked at it today, he said that there was too much weight being put on the the struts?? or something like that..but he said I had fluid leaking, and the popping has been getting gradually louder and louder. He said that I needed beefier struts..if that is the case, does anyone have any suggestions as to what struts to go with, if there is even any out yet? The springs that I bought were Tein, so I thought that they would actually be better than the Honda factory springs...and another friend of mine told me it could be the bearings in the struts..but any input would be helpful, and I only hear the popping noise when turning, and I'm pretty sure it is only from the front end..Thanks guys.
Any time you install aftermarket springs with stock struts, you run the risk of blowing them. I don't know if the stock struts can be rebuilt, but I would suggest getting aftermarket struts (as you said). The only struts I know about currently are Honda Factory Performance which should be available through your dealer (but might be a strut/spring package...), or struts that come with Tein or Megan coil-overs.
So...yeah. Not much is available currently, and it sucks.

lol. over half the people with coilovers dont need them or even have them set up correctly. i think tokiko or kybs would be sufficient. some springs like teins are made to work with you stock struts though but beefier ones would be recomended.

Koni has replacement shocks available for the Si. IIRC they're inserts for the fronts and full replacements in the rear. Chris Shenefield installed a set back in late August/early September and reported on the improvement on SCCAforums.com

I couldn't find any mention of these on Koni's website, or even on the SCCAforums (or on RedShiftMotorsports.com), but would be very interested in finding out what you might know about them, or if you have any direct links. It would be amazingly helpful to all here who can't or don't want to use coil-overs.

so my struts should still last for a while, it will just be a stiffer ride??? Or do I have to worry about a damn wheel falling off...I'm trying to get my service dept. to warranty them for me..but if I get new stock one's...won't it just do the same thing???
