Default b16a burning oil

Hi guys,

I purchased an SIR(b16a) 3 months ago ,In the first week I changed the oil (mobil1)and after a month I noticed that the dip stick is reading quater,I keep topping it up(approximately 1 1/2 quart excess ) until last month I change the oil and filter and notice the same issue happening .

I need to know what is probably causing this ?
the is car driven hard occasionally!

Regards

Could be anything.

Oil leak.
Valve seals.
Blow-by (bad rings)

I'd start by doing a compression and leak down test.

After about 3 months of using royal purple in my JDM 2nd gen b16a i started to burn oil about 1 quart every 1000 miles. Did a compression test and the numbers came out fine. So I was gonna have my valve seals replaced and a month before doing it I was low on oil (didn't know) took a turn on a thruway on ramp at about 50, oil light came on for a second, then the next day after warming up, I hear CLUNK, CLUNK, at about 3k rpm. SPUN a rod bearing. SO instead of rebuilding it I just got another fully assembled block. But when I removed my head the intake valves in the first cylinder had oil residue around them. So my guess would be your seals are done.

more then likely you have a car that either has bad valve guides or is experiencing "blow-by" which is where the piston rings are not sealing properly thus allowing oil to mix into the combustion chamber/combustion to enter your oil supply which also burns oil. Have a friend follow you out driving, make sure to take the car to redline a couple times and see if they notice the car exhausting smoke. If it is, definetely one of these two things. Otherwise check to see if there are any leaks maybe?
