I'm not sure what that stuff exactly is that covers/protects the frame underneath.. but i managed to scrape some of it off on the side from raising the car with hydrolic jack.. so what can i use to recoat that stuff so it doesn't turn to rust??

 

i used to do that at the dealership

its basically spraying tar material all over the bottom of the car to prevent rust.. the **** was pretty gross, friend accidently sprayed it the wrong way and got it all over his face (try not to breath it in)

the catch is that most of the cruical underbody parts are undercoated stock so don't pay for it man unless your going through salt and snow year round

plus it adds a bit of weight

 

Your local Acura dealer can do that for you for a fee.

 

They sell that in a spray can at the auto parts store. Its about $7 and it should be plenty. I dont remember the exact name, but its a heavy spraycan and they'll know what you mean if you ask for it (hopefully).

 

believe its called undercoating or undercoat.. made by SEM(or 3m).. easy to use.. just like spray paint... goes on nice and thick so only needs 1 good coat..

Yeah, I bought a spray can of the stuff from NAPA, it works though it's a little gross to work with/clean up. Go find some.

3m makes a pretty good product. They sell it a vato zone.

 

Man, I'm trying to REMOVE this **** from my car! The body is undercoated (that's paint undercoat, to be clear) beneath that gunk, and it's so gross to smear all over me whenever I'm fixing something under there.

 

Maybe it's degrading from all the oil and tranny fluid I've been leaking, I dunno

 

Walmart sells the stuff in the pain section. Or you can just get it Line-Xed!
