Pulleys - anyone with experience?
Looks like Unorthodox Racing is showing a pulley kit in production for the S2000 although it's not available for purchase yet on their site. Anyone have any inside info as to availability.

Tracy sports sells a pulley kit including a crank pulley but the kit is very expensive. I've only seen it available from Bulletproof: http://www.bulletproofautomoti...=4233
There is also a crank pulley available from Pro Autosports which also has a graph showing results:

i would not mess with the crank pulley. the stock crank pulley is there to balance out vibrations from the crankshaft.
for the accessory pulleys as they will just free up a hp or two ..

I know several people running them on S2000 street cars and track cars without any issues. Honda even supplied solid crank pulleys on some of their Type R cars like the Civic Type R. Removing harmonic balancers on some engines can lead to premature crankshaft bearing failure but I've never seen it on Honda's. They use very sturdy crankshafts with more support journals than most V8's.

A rod bearing or crank bearing? What engine?
I've heard lots of third hand internet rumors about bad experiences but I've witnessed nothing but great results for all Honda applications. I'd like to hear your first hand experience with problems related to pulleys.

I would avoid messing around with the crank pulley (not worth the trouble). Same goes with the accessory pulleys unless you have a thing for bling (anodized alum in gold or whatever color).

you sissy, i changed a timing belt on my beater integra on the side of the road in a couple hours with mere hand tools. (i did have the crank pulley tool tho) i used my legs to break the pulley bolt

Sorry, I made a typo. It was actually the crank bearing. On cylinders 4 and 3 of a B16. It happened about a 2 weeks after installing the crank pulley. The engine was pretty fresh and of course filled at the appropriet level with oil.
Mase, try and pull the S2000 pulley off with some hand tools
The B series are really easy to get off.

the hardest ive ever seen was an h22a4. it took me and precisionh23 FOREVER to get that damn thing off even with some good impact guns.
but honestly, i havent even tried to get one off a f20 with hand tools. whats the torque spec?
for the b series i think its 180 ft/lbs

yep same here mase...i was so astonished how much prelittleludes mcp was one...bouncing on a 6ft breaker bar is fun...endin up shattering a brand new matco breaker bar...and a few craftsman 1/2 ratchets...but persitence paid off...
when i went to remove my b-series i nearly died when it came off w/ such lil effort

Actually, the S2000 crank pulley is pretty easy to get off. I taken several off and with the appropriate tool and a 3 ft breaker bar, it's a pretty easy one person job that can be done in a few minutes. What works best for me is to put a piece of wood on your shock tower and rotate the crank holding tool until it rests against it - this prevents the crank from spinning. Then use a 3ft breaker bar to loosen the nut.
It's a lot easier than some other Hondas. I think the worst I've encountered was the D16's found in 89-91 Civic/CRX Si's.
