Im doing the power lock conversion and am having some trouble removing the manual actuators from the door.

It seems to be blocked by the window rail. Also the big rod that is connected to the doors handle. Do I have to remove the entire door handle to be able to get the actuator out?

My mechanic is out for the week but I would really like to try to tackle this myself for personal satifaction. If any one could help it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

i just did this about a month ago,
follow the rail down toward the bottom of the door, remove the bolt there and you can swing the window track out of the way. dont forget to put it back in place. also its easier to disconnect the metal arms going to the exterior and interior door handles. good luck, and be patient

 

Did you have to disconnect the big rail connecting the actuator to the handle?
