replacing wiper switch
hi, just got a question about replacing the wiper switch in my eg. can i use a switch from a ex? reason i ask is because i've noticed the switch on a ex has 4 options (including off) while my cx only has 3 (including off) can i just put the ex switch in and all the options will work, or do i have to do extra wiring?
no extra wiring, but you have to get the different Integrated Control Unit that snaps into the rear of the underdash fuse box.
here's how to remove the switch. (ignore the SRS Warning, I've never done anything about it and never had a problem)

They are easy to replace, just go to the junk yard and find one that will work.
I would get a direct replacement if I were you, so you don't have to worry about any wiring.

I am also trying to replace a wiper switch (on 2000 Civic). Thanks for the diagram and information. If you have done this before, I have a couple of questions:
1) it seems you can remove the steering column covers (step 2) without removing the dashboard cover (step 1). Why remove the dashboard cover?
2) On the diagram, the wiper/washer switch shows two attachment screws. I made a visit to the junk yard today and a 96 Civic had four attachment screws and it sure looked like the steering wheel had to be removed to get at the inner two screws. Removing the steering wheel requires removal of the airbag, so the introductory cautions would be applicable.
I'll head back to the junkyard tomorrow armed with the diagram and check other Civics on this part. Thanks again for the info & diagram.

^^ the above diagram is for an eg. you only need to remove the steering column covers, and 2 screws, then pry out the switch from the column, and disconnect the harness for egs. i don't even mess with the srs for the air bag.
