Default US Drag Events

I would like to attend a race day/s in the US to get a feel for how you guys run, pick up some valuable tips to build on my own technique.
I’m looking at FWD (Preferably Honda) if possible, as that’s what I drive
So, what would you suggest as a good event, would like to be as close to the action as possible to learn, watch the launch, staging etc, we only have a couple of decent tracks in the UK, and things are starting to get very competitive over here and most of the quick drivers are pretty keyed up prior running its not good to break there concentration.
Would be a weekend for fun first off and learning the game 2nd.
Need to have a hotel close by so I don’t have to travel too far to the track.

Open to suggestion?

Eddie

All the best events and fast cars are on the east coast. NHRA Englishtown is a good one.

whatever venue you choose, i'm sure somebody local would be willing to show you around and introduce you to people.

EddieCRX,

just come on over to the west coast to NHRASC Las Vegas & Pomona to watch some racing. Plus in Vegas you can gamble, shop, party, and race your heart out...

In all honesty -

75% of the population is east of the Mississppi, which is WHY I had to spend 21 days out on the road (a month) when I drove for JB Hunt, it was also hard to get a one way load back to California, were pretty much selfcontained here.

It cost more to live here, for there less fast cars here. But the cars that are fast here are among the fastest in the country, you can't mistake that.

Because of traveling cost, I would say your best served going to the NY/NJ area and hangin out with that crowd.

Share information? I dunno, seems the Honda crowd is a secretive bunch for the most part. Those that learned their speed secrets don't share without you spending money with them.

If you want help from everybody, then you'll have to buy another car.

That comes with being a true Underdog despite what usually is bantered around here.

There's a SFWD thread around here somplace about sharing information and it wasn't all that informative.

Guys, this is all good information and I'll start looking at the venues and events and compare with who’s running from the forum.
I wouldn’t dream of asking specifics on technique, everyone has a particular way of doing things and usually run some sort of ritual before each run, the basics are the basics and a larger percentage of technique is in the head anyway.
Just interesting to see how the cars are set-up and understand how they’re putting down the power between the markers.
I guess it’s a finite balance getting things right on the day, conditions will dictate set-ups and how to drive, comes with experience I know but I would just like to learn a little more go away and attempt to put what I have learnt in practice with seat time.
I’m not looking to break records just looking to make the most of what I have, I’m convinced my set-up will eventually yield the times but understanding and knowledge is massive step in the right direction.
