Default J30A1 in a 93 civic?

i got a fresh J30A1 from the factory, never been fired once

how easy would this swap, with a 5 speed into my 93 civic be?

im new to honda, all i usually work on is gm

i know ill need a new ecm, harness, custom motor mounts, and the pedals and everything for the manual swap

ive heard the J30A1 has some problems with the cam, is there better heads i can bolt on?

will my fuel pump be able to give enough pressure or will i need a new one of those too

like i said im new to honda so any input would be appreciated,

how good are these engines handling boost?

here is a j30 swap into a 88-91 civic hatchback. same ideas apply not major custom fab work... but it's going to be a little fab and cash...

i got the engine very cheap off a friend i know with amazing hookups, not sure on the weight but i know it pushes around 200 hp/165 pounds of torque stock.

its just the short block, i need heads and a manifold,

thats why i was asking how good the heads are on this engine, i heard somethig about the valves not opening fully

is there a better set of heads i can slap on this thing?

and id love to know how this engine is at handlind boost, but from what ive seen, it doesnt seem many are familiar with it

interesting. i've thought about a V6 in a hatch, but never really considered it myself. whatever floats your boat i guess. it would definitely be pretty rare, at least around here (md/va/dc/pa)

</TD></TR></TABLE>you'll probably want new suspension up front to support the extra weight if you go through with it.

frankly its probably not a good idea, unless you really know what you're getting into. j30s are funny motors also in that they have the exhaust manifolds built into the heads making exhaust flow a difficult thing. they're decent motors in that they're high displacement(for a honda) and that they are torquey but its honestly not really worth it, especially when you can build a 300whp b series for three grand give or take. just think about your options. yes it would be pretty cool, but practical? probably not.

ive heard that the head from a CL type S, has an increase in flow of around 50 cfm over the stock J30 heads, and i believe that is the J32 engine that they come from. correct me if im wrong.

another good idea would be to go the accord section and track down a little bit more information on this motor, your prolly only gonna get so much info out of us here in the civic forum...but good luck on the swap also good luck with the fab work, your gonna have your work cut out for you... go at it

HAVE'NT SEEN IT DONE TOO MANY TIMES, BUT ALL THE TIMES i'VE SEEN IT DONE IT'S HAD AN AUTO TRANNY

i know ill need a new ecm, harness, custom motor mounts, and the pedals and everything for the manual swap
SOUNDS LIKE YOU'RE ON THE RIGHT TRACK

ive heard the J30A1 has some problems with the cam, is there better heads i can bolt on?
TYPE S FROM A CL 3.2 LITER MOTOR

will my fuel pump be able to give enough pressure or will i need a new one of those too
NEW ONE WOULD BE SMART

how good are these engines handling boost?
SEEN QUITE A FEW SCd BUT ONLY A FEW TWIN TURBO'D SETUPS, ALL PUSHING AROUND 300WHP SO FAR HAVEN'T HEARD OF ANY BLOWING UP...YET

</TD></TR></TABLE>
-I've seen it done twice into EGs and now that EF. IMO they aren't worth the extra weight, unless you were to twin turbo(like someone else already said) it and make it a drag only car.

-If you're serious about putting that into an EG, better really be competent in wiring or have deep pockets to pay someone who is. Not to mention the fab work.

-also consider, it's got MUCH LESS aftermarket support than most B, D, F, H or K series motors.

-I think it'd be cool just to say you've got a V6 under the hood, but for the cost factor, I think your money could be better spent elsewhere.
