Default Speaker rattling & Dynamat

Has anyone tried dynamatting the rear panel in the EX, SI yet? The rattling is soo bad in the rear deck that I think I'm either going to get dynamat or just re-do the stereo system. Post pics if you did.

1.) If any1 has done it, how does it sound now?
2.) How would I go about dynamatting the trunk? Does the backseats need to be taken out? and do the speakers screw in from the top or the bottom? (of the rear deck.)

I know it's not a lot of info but there is only one screw for the rear speakers and it's on the top.

I put a layer of dynamat on my rear deck and realized my headliner was loose and that was the source of the rattle.

The headliner on my car was installed incorrectly. I had to replace the plastic clips. Fixed it.

Just so you all know, that rattling has a bulletin and it is covered under warranty. As a matter of fact, mine is at the dealer as I type this for that reason and another... Getting fixed of course.

They just add some padding somewhere to insulated the vibration. Will let you all know how it turns out.

Its in right now for the headliner to be fixed? So there is a rattling bulletin for the headliner? Very interesting b/c i totally noticed that when i turned up my stereo. So you just take it in and they add insulation and fix a couple clips and then no more rattle??

They had to hold it overnight, something about being short staffed. The speaker 'tray' if you will is what rattles i believe from the sub in the SI and EX models. They simply place some padding somewhere, im assuming where the rattle is (duh), and no more rattle.
I'll let you know whats up tomorrow when i get it back.... oh man do i want it back, they stuck me in a JEEP Compass.... horrible gas guzzling tank.

Anyone have advice on how to cut out the trunk rattle from an aftermarket system? I dropped a 750 watt kicker amp pushing a 12" L7 (1500 watt max, 750 RMS) sub and it is LOUD. I've put cardboard behind my license plate (ghetto I know, but works yes) to cut out the plate rattle but I still have some rattle coming from the trunk. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, the rattle is now gone, the service bulletin number is 06-006. All the songs that once rattled, are now free of it.

I just got off the phone with my honda dealership, and they said they have absolutley nothing in service bulletins for speaker rattle. Of course, he did say "hey you know what, bring it in and your warranty will probrably cover it." So we'll see what they can do for me. Thanks Demonis for the heads up, I would went and spent all kinds of money on dynamat.

Here, show your dealer this and tell them they should be more informed on the products they sell....

Dynamat or any type of sound deadener is really gonna be the only thing you can do. I'm getting both rear panels all the way around to the taillights, and my entire trunk lid done on monday. I'll let you know how much it helps it.

I had a simaliar problem with my ex coming from the sub. I thought it was the coming from the trunk and took it to a local audio express place and had dynamatt and a 10in bazooka sub installed. It didn't help at all in fact it was worse with the new sub. I found out it was coming from that plastic panel that covers the stock sub and rear speakers. The local shop said dynamat wouldn't fix that AFTER it was already installed. They told me to cut up an old towel and put it in between. I was a little upset but I tried it. It took about an hour to cut out holes in the towel for the speakers, sub and all the little clips(I made sure no one would ever know it was there unless I told them). It was even harder getting the panel to clip back in just perfectly. It fixed it completly. It is pretty similar to what the dealer did to Demonis except mine might seem a little ghetto but you can't see it and most importantly you can't hear the rattle.

Haha, yeah same concept, yours is probably a little better insulated, whatever they used on mine looks like a thick dryer sheet folded over and over again... oh well, whatever works, as long as i didnt have to do it ha.

Most of the bulletins are found by people that work for honda, i got mine (clearly) from the service statement above.

As for my Vin, its not like everyone here couldnt have figured it out, i have an SI so all but the last 5 are already known, and we've already had numerous threads with people talking about what # car they have over the reflash issue.... so meh
