Default The D16A1 motor

I was wondering if this motor would work in my 88 hatchback.

It is not going to bolt onto the stock mount positions in your car. Some will have to be moddified. It produces 118 horspower. My suggestion is to get a ZC or soh Vtec motors that will bolt into your car with little or no work and make close to 130 hp. JMO

I would advise against having your crank pulley lightened. Your bearings will thank you in the long run.

I have a d16a1 crank pulley sitting in my friend's garage in a bin. im pretty sure it only has 2 rings, compared to the d16z6 which i think has 3 (ps+ac). i remembered at the time when i was comparing them it is so obvious the d16a1 is lighter. i also think it's lighter than the d16a6 (i cant remember which one im using on my d16z6 in the crx ). i dont want to sit here and say it's the lightest of the d-series but i suspect it may be close.

you know what. im going to my buddy's shop this morning..i'll go get that thing and weigh it up on the shop scale (i think it still works ) and if so i'll post the weight up.

does anyone have any other d-series or b-series crank pulley weights to use as a reference?

Ok, I found a B20Z crank pulley lyin around to reference against the D16A1 crank pulley. I used two different scales to verify each weight. The D16A1 crank pulley only has the ring for the alternator, by the way.

D16A1 Crank Pulley: 3 lbs 27 oz

B20Z2 Crank Pulley: 6 lbs 10 oz

Quite a difference! The B20 has 3 rings..alternator, ps, ac.

If anyone has other d-series crank pulley weights or can weigh one I'd be interested to know.
