Restart issues with my B20
Posted this before and no one had anything to say. I know there are some damn good techs on here, so i need a little help. When my car is hot it will not restart. It will crank but will not turnover (I have spark and i have fuel) however when i let the car cool off for 10 minutes it will start like nothing was wrong. WTF
When you say the word "hot" do you mean overheated or just warmed up. Are you getting any codes or anything? Sounds like a fuel pump relay problem to me. I use to own a 89 hatch and it would turn over and fire up just fine. Then if I stopped off at the bank or something I would come back out and try to start her up and she would try to crank but never turnover. Then if I sat there for like 5-10 minutes I could try again and she would fire up. I hope that is your problem because I cost about $100 for the relay. The relay on my 89 was located under my steering column. Good luck.

I know exactly what is wrong. I've seen it many times on hondas. You need to get a new main relay from the dealership ( around $50 ) and install it. It has some bad solder jobs on the older ones which develop hairline cracks. When it is warm the connection is bad and assumes that your car is cold. Then it gives it too much gas and floods your engine. Because when it is cold your car runs richer to get it started. I had the same problem with a 89crx, a 94 prelude, and a 93 civic. While you are at it you really should get a new water temperature sensor. The old ones lose their accuracy over time.
Well i did have a problem with the relay and the fuel pump wasn;t turning on. So then i went to the junk yard and grabbed a relay out of a smashed eg. And btw my car is throwing a 6 and 10. But i tested the resistance on the sensor and the ohms read 212. And required OHMs is suppose to be between 200-400. So i dunno. The pump does turn on when i go to restart but it just cranks and doesn;t restart.
I would check on that code 6. If you can just borrow a coolant temperature sensor and replace it. Just a guess though. One more thing did you reset the ecu after you replaced the fuel pump relay.

OK, Code 6 = ECT.
was this replaced with a new one, then ECU reset?
the reason you may be getting this problem is because the ECU 'thinks' is is cold when it is hot and to compensate for a cold engine the ECU increases the injector pulse width and supplies more fuel, which will probably flood the hot engine.
i think you should check the ECT and IAT wiring to the ECU.
good luck,
