What does EGR stand for? A tech said that either catalytic converter or EGR failure could result in HIGH NOx readings during emission testing... could someone help me out? Thanks.

Accords and preludes have EGRs

 

Damn.......hoping you didn't have an EGR and that would solve problem.....
HRM, you could take it apart and clean it, it is attached to the Intake Manifold.....get a shop manual and it will tell you how to do it.

Also, if you do do that, clean the trottle body and manifold....that makes a huge difference.

 

So does the VX and HX civics.

Nope......it recurculates exhaust gases back into the INTAKE to "cool" combustion chamber temps.

Not an exhaust so to speak...
