I was watching one of those fix up your car/truck shows (don't remember which) and they had a spring compressor tool that uses a strap (one on each side of the spring) with a ratcheting system that tightens the straps, thus compressing the spring. It seemed much safer than the run of the mill $20 spring compressor tool, but I have not been able to find it. Has anyone seen this? Am I making any sense?

Didn't think it was gonna cost this much. I guess I'll just have to go with the run of the mill tool and be sure to wear my safety glasses

 

uh yeah. a nice hydraulic one on a stand is ideal.

but a $10 harbor freight special is fine too, if youre careful.
