Were you able to successfully run your new speaker wire? Can you give me a run down of tips or tricks? How much time did it take?

Thanks!

Default oops, sorry, ran outa time before

make sure you have like 2 full days to knock this off.. it was a hhuuuuuuuugeeeeeeeee PAIN in the a$$!!!. ask some questions, its hard to answer such a big question.. I have no idea what you are doing, are you amping, running video cables for dvd, no amp or reciever just to the dash?

its the easiest if you take like everything out, all the panels underneath your front dash, both door panels, the rear side panels, rear deck, back seat, bottom and back, front seats, center console..EVERYTHING! Once you have that all out its not as hard. Theres TONS of room to work as far as running the wires back to the trunk for amping also, get anything else run, ie, any sensor for trunk, any other wires that you may need in the future.

I ran into 2 problems, first, I ran the entire speaker wire through the plug in the door, you can get away with running each wire (+,-) individually, its much easier to drill 2 small holes that 1 large.. another was, I have a dvd system with the reciever in the trunk, I ran both my door speaker wire, and my video cable together in the same zip-tied cable, i get interference on beats sometimes, and I havnt installed my amp yet. I'd recommend running the video cable up the center, and the door wires down each side.. as for power cables, Im runnning 1/0 guage(2750 watts), so I am going to leave the interior to run it.

Hi Funky -

Thanks for the reply.

I'll be running the following:

Headunit: Alpine CDA-7894
Front Components: Illusion Audio ND6.1 (100W RMS to each side)
Rear Components: (who cares! - won't be amped, won't be used much)
Amplifier: US Acoustics USX-4085
Subwoofer: Illusion Audio ND10

I bought an amp kit from KnuKonceptz.com. I have the following to run:

4 guage power wire - I read numerous times of a hole in the firewall behind the battery on the passenger side and this is where I plan to run the power wire.

2 sets of RCAs - 1 set for the front components, 1 for the subwoofer. I originally planned on running these WITH the speaker wire (listed below) down the center but your post has me thinking that I should split everything up. If I do, I will run these down the driver's side.

16 guage speaker wire for the front components - Like I said above, this was supposed to go down the center (maybe center right while the RCAs go down the center left? Or could I get noise from that?) but these may go down the center by themselves now.

Remote Turn-On Lead - The nice thing about KnuKonceptz is that there is 1 of these attached per set. I will obviously add some heat shrink tubing and tap the sides that I don't use on 1 of the cables.

Ground - This one I'm a little unsure of. I have been told of a good location behind the right, rear Civic headlight (?) but I could use some advice as to where to ground this to (somewhere where I don't have to drill hopefully).

I originally planned on running each individual speaker wire (+, -) through the connector and will plan on following through with this. What size bit did you use, 1/8"? Rob Curley mentioned how delicate the connector is and if you mess up here, you're gonna have to pay an arm and a leg to get it fixed by Honda - did you have any problems here?

Thanks man, I appreciate it! IM me if you'd rather communicate that route.

I bought an amp kit from KnuKonceptz.com. I have the following to run:

4 guage power wire - I read numerous times of a hole in the firewall behind the battery on the passenger side and this is where I plan to run the power wire.
Remove the battery, and battery tray and you will find the main harness that runs to the ECU...send the 4 ga through there. It can go behind the kickpanel, under the door sill, and back behind the passenger rear arm rest, then into the trunk.

2 sets of RCAs - 1 set for the front components, 1 for the subwoofer. I originally planned on running these WITH the speaker wire (listed below) down the center but your post has me thinking that I should split everything up. If I do, I will run these down the driver's side.
Run the RCA's and the speaker wires down the center hump. I did mine under the center armrest, then flattened them out and straight back under the rear seat...soem duct tape will keep it all secured. Not hi-tech, but it works and keeps the wires flat. You won't get noise by running RCA and speaker wires together

16 guage speaker wire for the front components - Like I said above, this was supposed to go down the center (maybe center right while the RCAs go down the center left? Or could I get noise from that?) but these may go down the center by themselves now.
Run them up the center with the rca's...again be careful to keep them away from the shifter. I stashed my crossovers under the driver's seat, then rewired the doors...if you want to run the crossovers in the doors, that makes the rewiring job easier.

Remote Turn-On Lead - The nice thing about KnuKonceptz is that there is 1 of these attached per set. I will obviously add some heat shrink tubing and tap the sides that I don't use on 1 of the cables.
I never use those drains as remote leads...rather I just run a new small ga wire with the power wire.

Ground - This one I'm a little unsure of. I have been told of a good location behind the right, rear Civic headlight (?) but I could use some advice as to where to ground this to (somewhere where I don't have to drill hopefully).
I used the taillight stud as you mentioned...it's easy and solid. The rear seat bolt didn't work on my car. There is also the hold down for the spare, but I wouldn't suggest it. Just make sure you remove all paint and primer from the location to make sure that you have a good solid connection.
