Cleaning the Engine Bay?
I want to clean up my engine bay, since I am selling my car soon, I figure I gotta clean EVERYTHING.
Can I just spray it off with a hose, is there spots I shouldnt spary, should I use cleaner too? I have some antifreeze on random parts because one of my hoses exploded.
Should I use that simple green?

wrap your distribuitor and your alternator on plastic bags, and put a piece of tape around your spark plugs between the valve cover (to make sure no water gets in your motor).
Spray some "engine degreaser", one can will do the job! Let it sit for a few minutes, then... scrub it with a brush (plastic is preferable, metal will scratch parts that you don't need to mess with, and painted parts that you might damage the paint).
Light rinse with water, be sure to use as little water as possible, and then re-spray the engine degreaser, making sure you spray a little extra on spots where you weren't succesful on the first try. Scrub more, rinse it again, using as little water as possible. Use a towel, or any piece of cloth you have a dry the engine overall and engine bay.
Get some "armorall" (doesn't have to be from armor all, just some "plastic and vynil" conditioner) and apply to your radiator hoses and every plastic piece you can find, clean your wires with that as well, and leave it spotless. The result should be an attractive used engine that clearly shows how much the owner took care of the vehicle.

You dont need to cover anything, Unless u have an aftermarket intake, or anything uve added thats not suppose to get wet.
Just dont concentrate the water on anything electrical,
Get 2 Cans of Gunk Foamy Engine Brite, spray it on, let it soak for like 5 minutes, scrub really messed up areas, then spray it off...
Friend just bought a 90 teg, stock everything, oil leaking like crazy out of valve cover gasket, used that method, looked brand new

use a pressure washer thats fine but use degreaser and then spray it make sure you have the engine running while you are spraying everything, since the alt is spinnging so fast its fine it wont mess up your fine as lons as the car is on
simple green - etc are very strong chemicals - yes simple green is good - but wash them away as soon as you can.
you better do this, somewhere away from your home garage - because stuff that you going to use - eat the floor.
my 2 cents;

sometime i just wonder how much stuff do you guys pull out of your ****?
it's easiler to clean with a hot/warm motor but never keep it running, that's just a short and electric fire waiting to happen.
you need to cover all the electrical conponent if you use a pressure wash.
simple green and old tee shirt is the best way to do it, it takes more time but you'll be safe.
don't use motor oil or armor all on plastic/ rubber, armor all are know to make cracks on plastic dash under heat of the sun. try that with a very very hot motor.

the alternator is spinning but the terminal will not, so are the copper wires around the/brush
