You can fit both into an ep3. The k24 swap needs a little bit more work, but it's possible. Also, don't forget that hp isn't everything! The k24 has more torque.

ok , so are you saying that the k24 would be the better engine because of the torque?

They're both good. The guys who run them are mainly saying that the K24 is better for around town, K20 for high-speed work.

Here's what I've been thinking while trying to decide what I want to put into my own EP...

The 2-liter motors (k20a2, k20a) need to be revved higher to really make them sing. Of course, they can rev higher, and I could easily use the shorter 6-speed tranny and get more acceleration.

The K24 blocks can't rev as high; the longer stroke means that piston speeds will go as high as a K20 at lower engine RPMs. They can be built up internally to rev higher, of course, but I'm not sure if I want to sink that kind of money into a motor when I don't have race sponsorship or gobs of cash to play with. I would rather use a 5-speed tranny with a K24 because of that lower redline. However, they do have a bunch more torque, and can easily make up for the taller 5-spd gearing.

So, again, I'd say that they're both good at what they do. I'd also use them without boost -- leave turbos & blowers for the lower-compression K motors.
