cat question
Anyone have any suggestions about what to use for a cat? Im doing 2 1/2" exhuast and I want to either replace my stock one or get an aftermarket hi flow, any suggestions, brands to use, places to get them, would all be appreciated. TIA
I got one from PACESETTER!!!!! ARG!! YUCK!! lol...
Anyway, I looked at it and it seemed to work well. Has the same diameter as my APEX'i dunk, plus it was only about 6 inches long. Not too mention it cost me $30.

the main exhaust restriction is the stock o2 sensor housing it measures no more than 1.75" across, and the collector on that header is designed to be straight bolt in, so the header and that together will not make any more power, since you only flow as much as your smallest flow restriction, the power you make is directly related to how much you can flow through that 1.75" pos sensor housing
a header that has a 2.5" collector and have an 02 bun welded to the pipe and have the rest on back 2.5", oh and you WILL need some sort of fuel compensation like a fpr b/c you will run lean up top

I got a 2 1/4 inch on for imports so it's small for $86 shipped.

I got a custom made 2.5" testpipe from http://www.testpipe.com
Fits perfectly and improved my top end greatly. Made my car loud as **** though, but its a good loud!
But you prolly live somewhere where they have emmissions control! bhaha
I dont see how they can let semi trucks and dump trucks drive around (u seen all that black smoke come outta those damn things?) and still make such a stink about a little 4 cylinder car letting out a little puff when changing gears
hehe i suggest getting the testpipe then when emissions rolls aruond through the cat on ;b takes like 10 minutes

Only illegal in counties that require emmisions.
Plus, any company can legally remove emmisions equipment from any car. However, it is the customers responsibilty to not use the car on the streets. Loopholes. Gotta love em.

thanks for the info misa, appreciate it. know of any decent priced header to use?
get a 2-1 merge collector and have the collector of the dc sports on chopped off, o2 bung, weld, 2.5" to 2.5" cat to 2.5" exhaust and boom, your set, dont forget flanges and place the flex pipe AFTER the cat ( the guy that did mine placed it before, and its burned through now)

Any shop will do it here in Atlanta. They just have to tell you that it is illegal for street use. then you tell them it is a show or race car and not driven on the street, and all is well.
thanks for all the suggestions guys, I live in FL so emissions isnt a big issue at all. Not real sure how im going to go about all this yet, ive budgeted about $1k for the overhaul, that needs to cover header to muffler, so Ive got some room to play.
