hi, just a simple quick question, when does V-TEC kick in for the 06 Civic sedan EX? or pretty much for the R18A1?

When god comes down and deems thine vehicale worthy for such a just and worthy cause... only then can your car be capable of becoming something more. Something only the gods deem necessary, the almighty VTEC!1one!

Some interesting info on the new SOHC honda motors:
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Other technologies include a variable-length intake manifold using longer manifolds at low RPMs and shorter manifolds at high RPMs for an optimum ram effect and piston oil jets which cool down pistons to avoid engine knocking. As a result of these technologies and a compression ratio of 10.5:1, this 1.8 liter SOHC i-VTEC engine makes 140hp at 6300rpm and 174Nm of torque at 4300rpm.

Running bone-stock, no not really. But on the freeway at 5th gear you can feel a little "push" when you pass 3,500.

there is no H in VTEC

there is no dash (-) either

and the R18 has iVTEC

The R18 switches to the "high output" cam at 3500 didnt you see the damn chart above?

People are so misinformed on this site it's a shame.

Actually, there is a dash (-) in i-vtec. It's on the engine and on the sides of the si. I know we're talking about an r18 but it's still spelled i-vtec.</TD></TR></TABLE>

your joking right? your proving NO ONE WRONG OR RIGHT ... it wasn't about the "i"-vtec...

I always use the term when VTEC cracks yea i have an 06 SI with I-VTEC it from what it says its running in the lower rpm range unlike previous versions of it. I def feel VTEC when it cracks open just punch the throttle and enjoy.

P.S. When people ask when does VTEC crack they mean when does it get real loud and your passenger cream's him or her self as you rev to the moon !
