oil treatment?
i'm about to do an oil change and i saw an oil treatment that's supossed to give more hp and raise compression. does anybody have advice on these treatments, are they good or not? by the way i use synthetic. thanks.
How often do you change your oil? Most, if not all synthetics last FAAAAR longer than 3-4k miles.
If you're really curious as to how clean the motor is, just take the valve cover off.

don't do it, i remember i used slick 50 on my rolla and it made it harder to turn on. Also, that other stuff in the clear bottles that you put in the oil and gas tank, i forgot what was the name of it, it came out on tv a while back, well anyway, that stuff was said to mess up engines after a couple of months. I say just put some royal purple in there or mobil 1, they clean the engine anyway.
also 60,000 mi is coming close should i change the timing belt, it doesn't look cracked or anything but i heard that's good to change it every 60,000 mi. also what else should i change?

You don't need anything. What oil do you use? It probably contains detergents anyways.
Keep doing your scheduled oil changes and don't worry about a flush.

Yeah. Or you could try that seafoam thing, i heard it cleans the deposits, might try that pretty soon. But your car is new compared to mine, so i don't think your car needs anything of that nature. Just put some goof oil filter and call it a day.
my friend who is the lead mechanic at a honda dealership told me to stay away from lucas oil treatment. he says it works wonders on 6-10cyl vehicles...but it's actually detrimental to a 4 banger. all it does it thicken the oil... and on a 4 it just makes it harder for the oil to reach the head. my cousin uses it with every oil change on his ford escort, now he has a nasty valve tap.
all those products use chlorinated solvents in them to fight friction, and they work wonders for that. only problem is chlorinated solvents are horrible for your engine and slowly eat away at it.
next time if ever you guys see a demo where they have an open engine running and say watch how our product frees the beariings up and fights the friction, just ask them what chlorinated solvents they use and they will sut the fu** up Guranteed.
learned all this back from a gentelmen that works for BG products making these chemicals for a living{the only ones that do work without harming are BG's}
