Default 92-95 Civic Auto To Manual Swap Question Not The Usual Questions Help Me Please

Before you try to flame me for not searching i have searched and found tons of helpful information in the archives about this conversion but none answered my questions. I have a 94 civic ex coupe with D16Z6 motor. Im doing the 5 speed conversion. I have a 97 civic ex coupe 5 speed transmission and a 92-95 civic shift linkage. What im confused about is do i buy a 92-95 civic flywheel, 92-95 civic starter, and will the 92-95 civic shift linkage work or do i have to buy a 96-00 civic flywheel, 96-00 civic starter, or 96-00 civic shift linkage. I had the idea that most D series parts were the same??? Im so confused right now any and all help is greatly appreciated.

none ever said about u having to use ewk parts you may use either or, your shift linkage will work, u need a new ecu, leave ur gas pedal u dont need a manual one, get the manual brake pedal by removing the hitch clip and replace your fatty pedal, you need a clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder

are you sure youre ready for this swap? do more research man, sounds like you dont know ur stuff, also you need a 92-00 manual starter not just any starter

anbd your tranmisson will work just fine with eg parts, you may use a 95 flywheel u need one of those also, you have a driveplate in an automatic it wont work, all a driveplate is is a mount for the torque converter

buy a clutch for the transmisson, if the trans came out of a 97 civic ex, buy a clutch kit for a 97 ex, the kit is useful it comes with everything from the input bearing to the throwout bearing and it comes with a helpful alingment tool that you can save for other clutch jobs

i know i need a manual starter and i have all pedals, manual throttle cable (heard it was different), slave cylinder master cylinder. I have everything except my flywheel, clutch pressure plate and starter. Im so confused because i called honda today to buy the bitch pin for my 92-95 civic shift linkage and they said it wont fit on my 97 civic ex transmission saying the pins are different sizes. So thats what got me wondering would i need a 96-00 shift linkage for my 97 civic transmission

Yes, and bitch pins are the same. Look at san leandro honda as they give part numbers and compare sizes also. I think its 8x20mm but not sure off top of my head.
Also instead of getting all the factory lines there is a good write-up on a stainless hose line from your master cylinder to slave cylinder.
I have a d-series flywheel laying around also if you want it. I only want like 20.00 to cover shipping and everything. It is in good condition.

I also have a P28 virgin ecu for a manual tranny if you need one.

I did an auto to manual conversion on a 89 accord se-i last year not that that matters.

everything is the same most people at dealerships dont know to much cause they think its obserd to swap parts from other year cars. a 92-95 clutch will even work for your tranny but since your getting one new just get if for 97 everything else will bolt up. i put a y8 tranny on my roomates d15b7 i used everything from the b7 even the clutch.

I am in the middle of the swap myself.....there is some serious work involved jsut so you know. Its going to be a PITA with the motor in the car.

For the pedals, you are going to have to have a friend partially pull out the brake booster and the whole steering column is going to have to be dropped.

If you have any questions, grab me on aim. I should have my swap done this weekend.

you dont HAVE to have a new ECU. Its just that if you use an automatic ECU in a manual it will throw a CEL code, but the car runs fine.

However, you cannot do the reverse by putting a manual ECU in an automatic. ECU's can be converted rather easily between manual to auto, just an addition or removal of a resistor.

As far as the mount i would guess that you need a 92-95 mount.
