Hi Im new to this site, im going to purchase a gsr muffler for my 2000 Civic Si I love the look of the muffler and love the sound, was wondering if the muffler will mount on my stock piping for my exaust system? also will this perform better?

 

you have to modify it to fight the EM1 chassis if I remember correctly.

You wont see any power gains, only if the entire piping were to be replaced with larger diameter would you see any gains.

Yeah, the GSR muffler is a good idea on the Civic Si...if you want the tip to be 5" short of the bumper. I doubt they are even direct bolt-ons. An OEM muffler is an OEM muffler, they both sound the same. One that is dying and is losing sound-deadening material might sound "better," and that isn't a good thing.

The GS-R does have a nice exhaust TIP though...which you can buy for $36 here: http://www.acuraoemparts.com/d...ch=no. It bolts right onto the 99-00 Civic Si muffler

 

Bauley, correct me if I am wrong.

But doesnt the GSR use the same size piping as the EM1?

I also believe the ITR exhaust is a larger piping... in either case, still no gains will be found with just an axelback

No. It's definitely smaller.

 

i have a gsr muffler, with a 2000 si motor. I think the noise it makes is due to the fact i had the resonator chopped off, and had a straight pipe welded in. Clean sound On a coupe, i would think the end would need to be extended.

I will. If that were true, there would be NO POINT in buying an aftermarket exhaust as most JDM exhaust systems are 60mm/2.36".

It is actually mind boggling how much misinformation there is in this forum.

2.36 OD maybe, but not the inner diameter

i doubt if its more than 2 inches ID

4 door integra exhaust will fit, as already stated.

if you want to use a 2 door integra exhaust, you have to extend the mid pipe 4 inches before the first bend(after the resonator) and the extend either before or after the muffler about 4 inches or the tip will be sticking in under the bumper.

the integra muffler will bolt up to the stock si midpipe, but the tip will be tucked behind the bumper.

and yes, i know this for a fact, i had a usdm itr exhaust on my 99 si before i got my 5zigen pro racer exhaust. the 5 zige is off of a 4dr teg.
