Possible new ITR owner
I am looking at an '01 ITR, it is in excellent condition, has 40k miles, black, lowered, intake, exhaust, header, clear title. He said he would sell it to me for $18000. I have always wanted an ITR but that price is way over KBB. I know the car will probably sell for over KBB but that is like 4000 over. What are these selling for?
That is a very fair asking price considering the condition and mileage. ITRs hold their resale value extrmely well. Im not sure KBB can even justify a pricing technique for the ITR.
WALKER111, that is my biggest concern when buying this car. I have this much money into it and god forbid something were to happen to it, I'd be out some bucks.

I would prepare for something to happen. It always does with these cars.

That dosn't seem right... Im pretty sure last time I checked a 2001 with 55k miles is 17,200. Got that from waht you could expect to pay from a dealer. I know its a little more but I didn't think KBB gave a private party estimate. Check http://www.nada.com Also as far as your insurance company. I have USAA. They said if my car got stolen they would simply look at the ITR and pay me what it would cost me to replace my ITR. So every time you see a high priced ITR on autotrader or ebay or even on here I print it out and save it. Certain insurance companies like travelers allows you to cover your car up to a certain amount for an extra fee. Or just get gap protection through your loan. Then again you better have some nice credit for them to lend you more than the value of the car.
Check out these before you decide.... both are super clean, and babied.

Contact your Ins. Co. and tell them what you want it covered at up front. I know Progressive offers this. That way if anything ever happened your covered. Also, look into GAP insurance. GL but I think that's a fair price for the mileage if it's a clean titled car.

That is a good price and I wouldn't worry about getting your money back if it gets totalled or stolen. Mine was totalled last year and I was able to get $20k for it even though they first offered me $13k. You just have to know how to deal with them and you will get what you want. After I bought the car back I was actually able to make $6k off the parts too.

Thanks guys for all the replies. I will have to give all of this some more thinking. I could also use something to haul my bike and 4-wheeler and Honda has a great lease going on the Ridgeline, $299/month. Unforunately, I cannot afford the bike, the ITR, and a Ridgeline; I wish I could.
