I have a 98 civic hx. My gear box is extremely loose. When the car is in fifth gear I can push the shifter to the left so it looks like it is in first. I can basically push the shifter all over the gear box when the tranny is in gear. Hopefully the gear box is my only problem and it is not a transmission problem. Well anyway when Iam cruising in second gear the car just pops out. I was wondering if you honda guys have any idea what the problem might be?

its ur tranny...samething happened to me. same gear 2 but my gearbox wasnt loose at all..so it might be a diff problem.

 

try getting bushings for the shift linkage and changing the tranny oil with some GM mesh...for some it works for some it doesn't...but if not then its your tranny bro...my 2nd and 3rd gear was messed up...just swapped out a new tranny a month ago...
