Default Tranny Wont shift

Hi everyone! Let me first off tell you my setup: 89 Si with Fully built D16Y8 bottom end with stock D16Z6 head. LSD, Exedy Clutch and Stock Flywheel. T3/T4 turbo and all that.

My problem is my transmission wont go into gear. It was having a tiny bit previously which would be solved by tightening the clutch cable but recently it is impossible to get it into gear without matching revs. The clutch cable is tightened to the full extent and still nothing. When being pushed into gear the revs will drop like the clutch is only semi- engaged. Weve ripped apart the transmission and checked the clutch and throwout assembly and everything looked fine. Any suggestions? Time for a new tranny?

First off PROPS to you for posting your setup much appreciated.

Is this known to be good tranny prior to putting it in your car? I wonder if you have a shift fork that is bent inside.

Tranny bad? Clutch cable stretched? Check the clutch pedal bracket for bending. If everything outside looks good its prolly the clutch fork. (Edit: shift fork lol)

A worn, or bent shifter fork will really restrict the entry and exit of a gear, even sometimes pop itself out. If you start the car in gear does it roll forward at all if the e-brake is down? If so, then your clutch is always engaged and the tranny is more then likely fine. If it's running fine then I would check the tranny, shiftlinkages and even the tranny fluid. Drop the fluid and see what comes out (metal shavings). If it's a good ammount your tranny might have gear failure or syncro failure.

You would be surprised as to how poorly lived a transmission can be.

Ya i have already switched out the clutch cable for an OEM one and put a new pedal assembly in it because my old one was cracked. I thought that to be the problem but after installing them it was still the same problem. Im in the process of dropping the transmission right now..im guessing there is no way around dropping it in any case looking at the problems. Where would the shift fork be located?
Thanks for everyones input!
